Please take the time to read this week's E-Blast so you can stay up-to-date on happenings in our club, around the Region and around the world.

What's New: President Sara's Message, Dixie Fire Relief (zip code correction)

What's Happening this week: Program: Inspire School of Arts & Sciences
Message from President Sara Beacham
Greetings!

I am sitting in my office, attempting to write something inspirational for this week’s eblast, and am coming up blank. Then, I look up and see this quote from Abraham Lincoln, “Whatever you are, be a good one.” I like this quote as a reminder to stop trying to be perfect. I remind my close friends that I am a recovering perfectionist; that means that I am still a work in progress.

I think this serves as a good reminder to all of us that we are good at what we do – in our personal lives, in business, in our community, and in our club. As we enter our second week of live meetings, I hope you all are finding your groove and inspiration. I am still working out some of the many pieces to serving as your president this year. We have some new processes and guidelines we need to follow to make this year a successful one. Thankfully, we all work as a team to make this club amazing!

Remember to look for the email survey about lunch meetings. These emails go out the week before, usually on a Thursday or Friday, asking if you plan to attend the following week’s club meeting. If you didn’t reply to this week’s email, you might get a call or text from Kathy or myself. This is a new step we need to do this year as part of our agreement with the Elks Lodge. We appreciate your patience as we work through the kinks in the new processes.

We had amazing attendance at our business meeting last week and all motions passed, which means we have a balanced budget this year. I want to personally thank each one of you who contributed to Happy Dollars and bought Soroptiwear last week, too. We raised over $400 in one day! That’s an outstanding jump start on our internal fundraising efforts for the year.

This week we get to hear from Inspire School of Arts & Sciences. I can’t wait to hear about their progress on the construction of a new school.

See you on Wednesday!

President Sara
Dixie Fire Relief
SI Susanville is collecting gift cards for Dixie Fire relief. Some of the gift cards they need are: Safeway, Wal-Mart, Grocery Outlet, Tractor Supply, Ace Hardware, Rite-Aid, Walgreens, and gas - Chevron and Shell. Gift cards can be sent directly to SI Susanville, PO Box 442, Susanville, CA 96130.

Our District 1 Director Kerri Cobb is a member of the SI Susanville club and is helping coordinate this effort.
Celeste Cramer takes a vision and makes it reality through sound strategic planning and development. Celeste has over twenty years of social work experience and over fifteen years of management experience, particularly in the nonprofit sector. In the Bay Area, she worked with the Polly Klass Foundation and McDowell Drug Force, serving on the board at age sixteen. Celeste has worked with local nonprofits such as Rape Crisis, Catalyst Domestic Violence Services, Hooker Oak Elementary PTO and Stonewall Alliance of Chico. Over the past ten years, she has worked for Butte County Behavioral Health in different roles - crisis counselor, supervisor and administrative analyst - passionately serving people who suffer from mental illness. On the side, Celeste has been doing event planning and marketing with a focus on raising funds for schools (including Inspire!) and nonprofits.

During Celeste’s career, she started nationwide sales businesses to help start-up companies become successful such as Moby Wrap Inc. and Pura Stainless Bottles. Celeste believes strongly that anyone can sell anything as long as they feel passionate about the product. Now she brings her skills and experience to ensure the Inspire Foundation’s success in raising the money needed to build the school they deserve, then to secure enough funds so that the Inspire School of Arts & Sciences students and teachers can focus on learning and educating and not on fundraising. This is a cause Celeste feels fiercely passionate about and is determined to make a reality.

From SI Objectives Committee: Get excited SI Chico for this years’ Member of the Month, we have added a twist and will feature our fur babies too. It will be fun to learn a little more about our members via their pets.

September SI Chico Fur Baby (and Member) of the Month!

To kickoff the year, we are pleased to introduce the club to Carhartt and Cruz, President Sara’s fur babies. Carhartt is a terrier mix and is almost 4 years old. She loves to steal empty water bottles from the recycling bin at the gym where she is often an assistant trainer. Carhartt’s new brother is Cruz. Cruz is a 3-year-old Boxer rescue who joined the family at the end of April. Cruz has made the adjustment from the beach in Santa Cruz to Chico. He loves to swim, play and be right next to his people all day long. These two have a sweet life with Sara and Nick, getting walked daily, lots of treats and toys and endless love.

Beside being a dog lover, our SI Chico President Sara keeps busy with many things. She owns two businesses, B Fit, a personal training gym and 25th Hour, a bookkeeping and payroll firm. She is a newly minted Wildcat, starting a graduate program in Kinesiology this fall. In her free time (what free time?!), she trains for future bodybuilding competitions, spends time with her hubby, family and friends and rewatches her favorite shows, Grey’s Anatomy and Friends. She is a longtime Soroptimist and is passionate about making a difference in the lives of women and girls. We woof you President Sara!
