Announcements

We want to extend our deepest condolences to Lisa Asendorf and Allison Deyo for the passing of their mother/grandmother.

Dorothy Peterson passed away Sunday, November 2, surrounded by family. Please keep their family in our prayers.

THE OFFICE WILL BE CLOSED ON NOV. 11TH FOR VETERANS DAY

The JWUMC Social Justice Team is excited to announce a new partnership with a local non-profit, Family Table Collaborative. We will be collaborating to bring fresh, chef-prepared meals to people who need them in Falmouth on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month. At the same time we'll be helping rescue tons of surplus food from landfills and compost piles each year.

We need 2-3 volunteers from John Wesley at each distribution time, to help direct traffic through our parking lot.

To volunteer during distribution, please visit the Sign up Genius page here: signupgenius.com.

To learn how you or someone you know can sign up for meals, visit familytablecollaborative.org and click on "Request a Meal" at the top of the page.

You can also learn more about this new community partner through their website. This new venture is an exciting opportunity to serve as Jesus' hands in our community.

DRESS A LIVE DOLL

The holidays are coming soon and it’s almost time for Dress A Live Doll at church! This year we have 6 children and one teenager from the Salvation Army that need Christmas gifts.

We’ll start Dress A Live Doll on Sunday, Nov. 8 when you can choose your person and the new gifts that you’d like to get them. And then for 2 Sundays after that, Nov. 15, and Nov. 22, Marie and I will be available before and after church service to help with selections and collecting any gifts from you.

All clothes and toys must be at church by Sunday, Nov. 29. No gift wrapping is needed.

Because of your help, these children will wake up Christmas morning with amazing gifts enjoying Christmas magic!

Christmas Blessings,

Nancy Peterson

Mission/Outreach TEAM Updates

Each month our team discusses the many ways we can support missionary work locally and internationally. We update our Bulletin Board in the Fellowship Hall to show various missions including Thank You Letters. Please check the BB to see new updates from two Missionaries our team and church support, Allison D. and Dr. Bella. Please pray for both Missionaries during this time of unrest in the Middle East and the Ebola breakout in Africa.

Changing Our World for November and December is “Pastor’s Discretionary Fund.” Donations are used to help local people and families in need. Gift cards are purchased from Stop & Shop and distributed to the needy. In addition, funds are used to pay utilities or rent. A true outreach to our community. Please help Pastor Rene’ minister to the local community with your donations to “Changing Our World” for the months of November and December.

Thank you for all your contributions to all our Changing Our World programs.

Each quarter our Mission Team selects a recipient to receive 10% of funds earned at the “Wesley House” Thrift Store. The following organization were selected to receive funds: 2nd Quarter “Belonging to Each Other” 3rd Quarter “Falmouth Service Center” food bank. 4th Quarter “World Central Kitchens” is an organization that cook and serve meals during disasters internationally and in the United States.

Please review the bulletin board and learn how your Mission Dollars are spent. The box for food donations is located in the Fellowship Hall. Please donate food for the Falmouth Service Center on Gifford Street by placing your donations in the box. The food most needed is listed on the box and in our weekly updates. Thank you to all who donate food for the Falmouth Service Center.

All are welcomed to our meetings on the third Wednesday of each month at 2:00 pm in the Fitzgerald room.

If interested or willing to join our team, please contact any member of our Team: Marge Dean, Penny Dean, Kate Finemore, Tracy Jackel, Nancy Peterson, Marie Syverson,

Ann Tupper, Bonnie Valade, and Donna Fish, Chairperson

 McCarthy Family College Fund

Thank you all for the interest many of you have expressed in this worthy Fund to help the McCarthy family.

We need a little bit of time to set up the proper paperwork internally. Please don't make any contributions until after the Stewardship Campaign. We will provide further information at that time.

Rest assured that the McCarthy family is very grateful for the prayers and assistance from their church family.

FROM THE CRAFTY LADIES

If you have made crafts for the craft table. Please bring to church on Wednesday November 11 or Thursday November 12 . Thank you.

Lenten Booklet

Helen shared a great idea that was done at a previous church. We, the Tuesday morning Bible/book study group, would like to work on preparing a John Wesley United Methodist Church booklet to share with the church and more. We thought it would be nice to have a JWUMC personalized, inspirational booklet to help prepare us for the season of lent. We thought it would be great to include devotions - like “The Daily Bread”, recipes, poetry, favorite scriptures, drawings, brief inspirational stories, etc. Additional details will be coming.

Please text it to Karen or email them to nerakpmac13@ gmail.com. You can also place them in the card ministry mailbox across from the office.

Are you interested in a Small Group, Bible study or book study, but just can't fit another in-person meeting into your week?

Would an online forum (like Zoom) work for you?

JWUMC is considering starting a virtual group to accommodate folks who are busy during the day or just can't get out, but are comfortable using technology to meet. Probably on weeknights (but not necessarily).

If you're interested, please email Jenn Linton.
