| | | A Message From Our FRIENDS of the Library | | |
This is Connecticut, so winter isn’t going away yet! There are sure to be some cold and snowy days ahead, so plan some indoor activities. March is National Craft Month, so why not resurrect a hobby you once enjoyed, or learn something new? FRIENDLY FINDS will be showcasing books on a variety of crafts – browse through the shelves to find a how-to book for a craft that speaks to you, then roll up your sleeves and get creative. Other topics being highlighted in March are Pi Day (look through the cookbooks and find a pie recipe!) and Women’s History Month. The FRIENDS of the Library use proceeds from these book sales to fund museum passes and many varied programs at the library. You get to enjoy the books and the benefits! Cash, check, or Venmo are accepted. We gratefully accept donations of books in good condition that you no longer need or want. Volunteers will be at the back entrance of the library every Saturday from 9:30 until Noon for assistance. (You
can also return books that you previously purchased from the FRIENDS!) To learn more, visit our website at www.FONML.com or e-mail us at FONML001@gmail.com

Special thanks to the Friends of NMPL for sponsoring these passes. Remember that these passes are loaned for three days only.
The Hill-Stead Museum in Farmington features a world-class collection of French Impressionist paintings and fine art, exquisite decorative arts, and handsome antiques on display year-round in a 1901 Colonial Revival house. With your library passes, you receive half-price admission for two children and two adults.

| | | The White Memorial Conservation Center in Litchfield, CT, is a wonderful place to spend the day. With 35 miles of trails and a museum, White Memorial is the largest wildlife refuge in CT. The passes at NMPL admit two adults and up to four children free to the museum. www.whitememorialcc.org | | | | |
The library is hosting Andrea Price-Johnson's exhibit entitled, "Breath and Bloom: Nature Refined."
From the “humbleness of trees” to the striking interplay of shadow and light, Andrea’s pieces invite the viewer to look closer at Mother Nature’s beauty. For her art is no longer just about painting what she sees; it is about letting herself become lost between reality and the imaginative fables found in the wilds beyond her studio.

What Is Story Time?
It’s time to register for Fall Story Times. Some people think that Story Time is just someone reading books to children. But there is a lot more that goes into our programming. At NMPL, we keep our groups separated by age. This way, we can offer the best program for your child’s social and emotional needs. The stories and activities are developmentally correct for your child. Depending on the age of the children, we use books, flannel board stories, puppets, music, arts and crafts that will enhance the session. So, it is important that the children are in the correct age group.
We keep the children with the other kids that they will potentially go to school with by being strict about the age of the child. Connecticut Public Schools are now requiring children to be five years old by September 1st of the school year in order to register for kindergarten. We back that up by having our registration for Story Time use the same cut-off dates.
- Little Ones Mondays (10:00 AM or 11:00 AM) Child must be 1 by Sept. 1, 2025
- Terrific Twos Thursdays (10:00 AM or 11:00 AM) Child must be 2 by Sept. 1, 2025
- 3, 4, 5- Year-Old Story Time Wed. (10:00 AM or 11:00 AM) Child must be 3, 4 or 5 by Sept. 1, 2025
We want to give your children the best start to a love of reading and using the library.
