Greetings Connect K8 Families,
We apologize for the interruption to your summer break! We want to share important information regarding Connect K8's remote option for Fall 2021, given the rise in COVID cases due to the Delta variant.
In addition to Matt's Da Vinci School's Update (sent 7/30/21), we want to share with you that Connect K8 is committed to offering a remote learning option for families for Fall 2021. We have shared this plan with families who indicated a need for a remote option in a June survey and we recognize that some families may be re-considering in-person learning given the current health and safety updates surrounding COVID-19:
- We are committed to offering a remote option for families who need it for Fall 2021. We will re-assess in December if the need persists to offer a remote option past first semester
- We ask that families commit to this option for the entire semester and do not expect to move between remote and in-person mid-semester. This allows for continuity and sustainability for all stakeholders involved
- During remote learning, all students will participate remotely in the M/T cohort, with our beloved teacher, Julia Rivera
- Once the remote option absolves, students will be placed back in their preferred cohort day with their appropriate core teacher
-
Contingent on commitments from families, we plan to group students TK-3rd in the AM and 4th-8th in the PM, so that projects and learning experiences can span multiple ages and entry points (we have done this successfully in the past through our former Collaborative program)
- Each age group should expect +/- 2 hrs of zoom instruction 2 days/wk, with asynchronous work available those 2 days to complete the “school day”. 3 days of homeschooling will continue to be expected as part of the program
As guidance from the state and county continues to develop regarding COVID-19 protocols, we are currently enforcing mask wearing for ALL when inside. Masks will be optional when outside, regardless of vaccine status. Physical distancing will be encouraged and will be enforced when eating (all eating will take place outdoors). Our COVID handbook can be found HERE.
With the above information in mind, if you plan to choose our remote option for Fall 2021 we need a commitment from you by Friday August 6th in order to best prepare this remote option for our students. Please complete THIS FORM no later than 8/6 @ 4:00pm.
Additional information about the start of the 2021-2022 school year will be shared in the coming days, including information from your child's teacher(s).
Thank You!
Kaitlin and Tami
