6th Grade Scheduling Information- 5th Grade Students
Springboro Intermediate staff visited with 5th graders on Friday, March 7th about the transition to 6th grade and choosing their music class! While at Springboro Intermediate, each student will take one of four music classes: band, orchestra, choir, or general music. Part of the meeting on the 7th was an introduction to the music teachers at SI, along with a demonstration of the different instruments the students can choose from for band and orchestra.
Before your child chooses what music class they will take, they will participate in a "Try It Day". The SI band and orchestra teachers will be coming to Five Points on March 17th during the school day and every student will have an opportunity to try the band and orchestra instruments! If your child is not at school that day, or needs some extra time to decide between instruments, the area music stores are all happy to let students try the different instruments!
Lastly, on Monday, March 17th at 3:30 p.m., the Music Form to submit your child’s music class will open. This form must be completed by Monday, March 24th. We will do our absolute best to schedule your child into their first choice of class, but there are times, due to scheduling conflicts, that we may have to go to their second or even third choice. So please encourage your student to think carefully about all of the selections on the form!
If your child chooses instrumental music, please do not rent any instruments until you receive confirmation of their music class. The band and orchestra teachers will contact you by the end of June to inform you of your child's instrumental music placement.

Health Services Update
Dear Parents and Guardians,
This time of year always comes with increased illness throughout the community and in our schools. Please review these guideline for when your student can return to school following illness:
Return to school guidelines:
- Students must be fever free (without fever reducing medications) for 24 hours. If your student is sent out with a fever we are requesting a minimum of 24 hours at home. Ex. A Student sent home Monday at 11:00 am would not return to school until Wednesday. We ask that the full day be taken to make sure your student is healthy and not contagious. If a student returns before this time, you will be called to come and pick up your child.
- Students who are experiencing Vomiting/Diarrhea: It is recommended that the student remain home 24 hours after their last episode of vomiting/diarrhea. Example: If your child is sent home from school ill on Monday, regardless what time they signed out, we would ask that they remain home the next day and return to school if better on Wednesday. If a student returns before this time, you will be called to come and pick up your child.
If you have a doctor’s note, a diagnosis of illness is helpful to track and monitor illness during the school year. Reminder: the excused absence is based on the date(s) provided on the medical note.
As always, if you have health related concerns or questions related to your student please reach out to Sarah Adams in the Five Points Clinic at sadams@springboro.org or by phone at 937-748-6093.

Daily A.M. Walkers
*Those students who ride their bike/scooter to school or walk...
Students who walk/ride their bikes to school will still enter through the front of the building through Doors 5 and 6 beginning at 8:15 a.m. each morning.
Car Rider & Daycare Drop Off in the A.M.
Drop off for car riders and daycare buses may begin at 8:00am and should end by approximately 8:25am. All cars and daycare buses should arrive no later than 8:25am in order for students to make it to their classrooms by 8:30am.
Parents who drive their child(ren) to school will begin the car line around the building on the WEST side - at Door 3 (gym). PLEASE DO NOT DROP OFF YOUR CHILD IN THE FRONT OF THE BUILDING. A staff member will be at Door 3 each morning to monitor arriving students. Students will go to the gym and will be monitored by a staff member until dismissed at 8:15 a.m. Parents will loop around the staff parking lot and exit out the west front exit. Please watch for students using our cross-walk. Additionally, we ask that cars do not pass cars in front of them. Cars should follow the flow of traffic, and remain in their spot in the car line, until exiting the parking lot.
Car Rider & Daycare Pick Up - P.M. - DISMISSAL
Dismissal for car riders and daycare buses will begin at 3:05pm and will end by approximately 3:20pm. All cars and daycare buses should arrive no later than 3:15pm in order to ensure all students can be picked up by 3:20pm.
The car rider line will form around the front of the building and will continue to the West side staff parking lot. Please stay on the left side of the lane as you enter school grounds, and then you will merge into one of two lanes next to the curb. Staff members will be present to direct traffic in the front of the school. PLEASE have your car rider number displayed and ready to go at ALL TIMES as you proceed through the car line! Staff members will be collecting numbers as the line forms. Students will be dismissed in groups based on your position in line. For safety reasons, students must enter the car on the curb side only. Please follow the direction of our staff members to ensure a smooth pick-up process. Please DO NOT park in the staff parking lot and cross the line of traffic to pick-up your child(ren). You also may not park in the front of the school to pick up your child(ren). All car riders must follow this process in order to ensure the safety of all students.
When in the car line, please be cognizant not to block the handicap ramp located in the front of the school. This ramp should always be clear and not be blocked by any vehicles, at any time. Additionally, when in the line, please be sure to pull up as close as possible to the vehicle in front of you in order to allow for as many cars as possible in our car line. We also ask that vehicles do not pass cars in front of them. All vehicles should follow the flow of traffic, and remain in their spot in the car line, until exiting the parking lot.
Please click here to review the route map for A.M. & P.M car riders.
End of the Day - DISMISSAL
Pick up at the end of the day should occur in our car line unless your child is a walker or is riding the bus home. Parents should not be parking and meeting students in the front of the building, or in the main office unless you were called for a sick child, you forgot your car rider number, or special arrangements have been made with administration. Students will not be dismissed to a parked car in the front lot. We appreciate your attention to our dismissal guidelines!
Change in PM Dismissal Communication
If you need to notify the school that your child(ren) will need to change the way he/she typically goes home from school, please contact the office 937-748-6090 as soon as possible. We ask that these calls be made no later than 2:45pm. After this time, we cannot guarantee that these requests can be granted. It is always best to send in a note for the change when advance notice can be given. You may also email our receptionist, Patty Wolpert. Having the communication in advance, helps us to ensure we are able to dismiss our bus fleet in a timely manner.
If you send an email to your child's classroom teacher of a schedule change, please include Mrs. Wolpert (pwolpert@springboro.org) on the email as teachers may not have an opportunity to check their email in the late afternoon, prior to dismissal time.
Daycare Communication ... IMPORTANT
If there is a change in transportation, or your child goes home prior to dismissal, please notify your daycare provider of the change. This notification is extremely important as it will allow for our bus dismissal to happen in a timely manner.

Volunteer Information
ALL Volunteers Need to be Fingerprinted!
Our schools benefit from tens of thousands of volunteer hours every year, and we appreciate the time and energy of our active volunteers!
The safety of our students is our first priority. All volunteers are required to have current BCI and FBI fingerprint background checks on file with the district before they can volunteer. These checks are good for five years.
Parents and community members who would like to volunteer in our schools will need to conduct an FBI and BCI background check.
Please contact a Five Points building secretary to confirm if you have both volunteer background checks on file and what the expiration dates are. Please note: Background check results could take 4-6 weeks to receive by mail if there has ever been something on your record.
Additional information regarding volunteers and fingerprinting can be found HERE on the district website.
