Coffee Hour Fellowship
Every Sunday
Join us for Coffee Hour every Sunday following the 9:30 AM service. Be with us in Fellowship Hall to socialize, catch up with church friends, enjoy some treats, and, of course, sip our "heavenly" coffee!
Thanks to all who provided our special treats during the summer months! Our regular Hosts will return on Sunday, September 13th.
| | |
From The Pastor's Desk:
September brings changes in all kinds of ways! College students are already back in classes, and children will soon be back in school. The summer rush is soon over down the shore, and before you know it the 21st will be here and that’s it - summer is over and Autumn has begun! I mean, after all, coffee shops already have pumpkin spice concoctions and donuts, so it’s just around the corner…
The church has seasons too, several in fact. We are still, worship wise, in the season of Pentecost as we hear the stories of the church in growth. Growing deeper in faith and closer to Christ. Growing in ministry and serving. Growing together as the Body of Christ.
But September brings renewed growth as schools welcome students, and as vacation time winds down. Soon we will bless backpacks and students for the new school year. We will celebrate the giving of quilts and the gift of grandparents. Children’s Church is back and so are Confirmation classes. Bible study will begin soon as we plunge into new understandings of the Holy Spirit - in and among us.
All through the summer months we never lost sight of our calling to serve. We continued to provide sandwiches and protein meal bars, sometimes called “brownies”, to our neighbors at the Christian Care Center. We provided picnic food and other food items for our friends at Bridge of Peace. We also made sure kids had all the supplies needed for a successful school year through our annual Supply Collection. Well done good and faithful servants of God!
Ever and always we gather to worship the One who gives and sustains life - Jesus Christ. Every Saturday at 5:00 PM, and every Sunday at 9:30 AM, we gather as the people of God. We come to pray together, to sing together, to be together, and to have grace poured out upon us - together.
We are Lord of Life Church and God is calling us to new things, new ways of being, with new hope and a vision for the future. Let us gather together and joyfully follow where God leads!
Joyfully reaching out in love as God’s people!

Update On Our Search For A New Full Time Pastor
A Message From Church Council President
Bill Reich
On August 25, 2026, your Church Council, some staff members, and the Call Committee of Lord of Life conducted an interview with a fourth candidate that has been presented to us by our New Jersey Synod with the intent to fulfill our need for a full time pastor.
The results of the interview are that the candidate continues to be interested in doing ministry at Lord of Life, and your church council believes that the candidate is worthy of consideration by the members of our congregation. Both parties have agreed to continue along to the next step of the call process.
Therefore, SAVE THE DATE – Sunday September 27, 2026. The candidate will lead our 9:30 AM worship service that day. Following the service at approximately 10:45 AM, we will have a Special Congregational Meeting. The sole purpose of the meeting is to vote on whether or not the candidate is acceptable to the membership of Lord of Life.
While the worship service for that day is expected to be available on YouTube, the congregational meeting will not be. Only congregation members physically in the building at the time of the meeting will be able to vote. Attendance will be taken to insure that we obtain a quorum for the meeting.
Additional information will be sent to the membership via U.S. Mail in mid-September.
Please continue to keep the candidate, the Call Committee, the staff of Lord of Life, and your Church Council in your prayers as we continue through the call process. (The Synod has asked that the name of the candidate be withheld until the day of the congregational meeting.)

Children's Church New Year Begins,
Quilt Blessing And Packing,
Grandparent's Day
Sunday, September 13th
There are several events happening this Sunday. The new year for Lord of Life's Children's Church will begin.
Quilts that have been finished over the last 12 months will be displayed, blessed during the church service, and then packed for shipment to Lutheran World Relief (LWR). Following the church service, congregation members are invited to help with moving the quilts from the Sanctuary to Fellowship Hall where they will be placed into boxes. You also have an opportunity to assist with the packing. Boxes of quilts will be brought to the LWR collection center, Redeemer Lutheran Church, in Vineland on September 17th.
In the United States, Grandparent's Day is celebrated on the first Sunday after Labor Day. Lord of Life will recognize our member grandparents with some special activities during Coffee Fellowship following the church service.

2026 Vacation Challenge:
Visit Another Congregation
Extended Through September!
Many of us travel during the summer months, and Lord of Life has created a simple “contest event” in which all can participate. Winners will be announced in October.
Directions: All it involves is visiting another house of worship while you are away on summer vacation. While there, pick up a bulletin or flyer. Put your name on it along with the names of anyone else who was with you. For “extra credit,” you can also write one sentence about something you liked or something you learned. Bring it back to church and place it in the designated collection box. That’s it. Take the challenge and grow in our faith!

American Red Cross
Special Summer
Blood Drive
Thank You Donors!
From Blood Drive Coordinator Bill Dreisbach
We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to our volunteers and donors for participating in the August blood drive at Lord of Life.
Although we encountered some initial equipment challenges that required loss of the first hour while replacement equipment was shipped from Philadelphia, the team resolved the issue and ensured the drive continued successfully.
We are pleased to announce that the Red Cross successfully collected 25 productive pints. While our "straw goal" was to reach 30, this remains a significant result for the community. We sincerely apologize to those who were unable to participate during the first hour (about 8 donors). We look forward to seeing you at our next drive!
Another Thank You From Red Cross
Blood Drive Coordinator, Caitlin Murphy
Thank you all for the tremendous effort and continued support among your congregation and community! We are so honored to work with you all especially during this emergent time when our blood supply is experiencing a historic low.
I was disappointed to hear about the issues at the start of the drive, as I know you all were too. Even through these difficulties, your drive saved more than 70 patients in the Tabernacle area and beyond! THANK YOU! We appreciate your understanding and patience with us during the unforeseen circumstances.
We hope that you can sign up to donate at the next drive at your location. Please let me know if there is anything you may need from me.
Have a great week!
Caitlin

Tellers Wanted!
About every other Sunday, a group of church members counts and records offerings that have been donated. This assures proper accounting of monies contributed to our church.
We are in need of additional volunteers, “Tellers,” to help with the process. Teller Teams are formed and assigned in a fashion so that a particular team is counting no more than once a month. The more volunteer Teller Teams we have, the less frequent the assigned dates will be. All needed training will be provided. New team members will always be counting with experienced volunteers.
If you would like to help out and be a part of one of our Teller Teams, contact our Financial Secretary, Carol Ebersberger. A link to her email is below.

The Holy Spirit: God’s Presence
and Power at Work in Us
By Adam Hamilton
The Holy Spirit is God's active presence and power at work in the world and in our lives. Through the Spirit, we are transformed, led, empowered, and guided in our faith journey. Jesus promised his followers that the Spirit would come alongside them as comforter and counselor, empowering them to transform the world.
In The Holy Spirit, Adam Hamilton explores what Scripture teaches about God's Spirit―from the Hebrew Bible through Jesus' promises in the Gospels, the powerful Pentecost experience in Acts, and the rich teachings found in the New Testament letters. This accessible study helps believers understand and experience the Holy Spirit's presence and power in their daily walk with Christ.

An Invisible Thread,
By Laura L. Schroff
And
Alex Tresniwoski
This biography is a remarkable story that is told so beautifully and honestly. Laura Schroff was a successful advertisement sales representative living and working in Manhattan. Maurice was a homeless, eleven-year-old panhandler on the street. He asked for spare change; she kept walking. But then something stopped her in her tracks, and she turned around and went back. And she continued to go back, again and again. They met up nearly every week for years and built an unexpected, life-changing friendship that has today spanned almost three decades. There are 8 copies in the library. The book is 238 pages in length and is rated a 4.3 out of 5.
