Negotiating with the Internet of Things
|
Yes, this is a thing. We can learn much about how contracts are made by algorithmic agents as applied to the softer model - humans. Specifically, results show that negotiation complexity increases linearly with the number of agents that are negotiating.
This complexity is reduced by preselection of choices
, (See Nobel Laureate Richard Thaler's work) so that a smaller number of agents takes part in the negotiation stabilizing outcomes. There are a couple of predefined algorithms that users can configure to match their needs. Check out the original scientific
paper here

DISPROVED: Warm Beverage = Warm Perceptions.
No Evidence that experiencing physical warmth promotes interpersonal warmth: Two Failures to Replicate Yale study by Williams and Bargh (2008)
TAKE AWAY: The stuff I said about warm beverages - forgetaboudit. All positive reviews may not necessarily increase sales of goods and services. It's complicated.
This may be a reciprocity influencer, not tactile temperature

Planning Your Bid List By Online Reviews: 5 Starts are Inflated
|
In a
study Reputation inflation showed that users of online services inflate scores even for bad service - this may be because they do not want to ruin anyone's job in the job economy.
TAKE AWAY: In your strategic plan element assessing ability to perform, know the mechanisms in public ratings may inflate online ratings.

NSR Story
When I started practicing law over 20 years ago, I found negotiation was viewed as an "art" by some, a "science" by others, or the sum of the two. Thousands of deals and disputes later, I learned it is a
system
with three primary subsystems: strategic, tactical, and operational. If you master the subsystems, outcomes are greatly improved. Schedule a personalized talk or seminar for your team by contacting me at: 503-343-3303.
