Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Supporting and teaching how to build a legacy.
PHP People Helping People hosted an event, Pink with A Purpose, for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Stacy Records speaks about the importance of breast cancer awareness at an event dedicated to supporting the family of DeAngela Clark, who tragically lost her battle on Sunday. DeAngela leaves behind three young children. This event serves as a reminder of the importance of early detection, breast health awareness, and supporting families impacted by breast cancer. Leave a legacy for your family. Prioritize your health, encourage your loved ones to get screened, and help spread awareness. Your life, your health, and your legacy matter. Our thoughts and prayers are with DeAngela’s children, family, and loved ones during this difficult time.

Tarrant County Election Administrator Clint Ludwig acknowledged that he did not consider how the cuts would affect Black, Hispanic and low-income voters. Tarrant County will not be required to restore nearly 100 polling places that county officials cut, a judge ruled Tuesday, dealing a setback to voting rights advocates and minority groups weeks before a high-stakes midterm election. District Judge Patrick Gallagher did not provide a reason in his one-page decision, handed down after a day of testimony from voters and county officials. The ruling was in response to a lawsuit filed earlier this month that argued the cuts disenfranchise Tarrant County voters, with the heaviest burden falling on Black and Hispanic.

The mysterious death of Nolan Wells hit a new level of shock after Bernice King shared a chilling connection to her uncle's unsolved drowning. It’s still hard to wrap our heads around the mysterious circumstances in the death of 18-year-old Nolan Wells, even more so with it officially being ruled a drowning despite an autopsy that suggests otherwise. Even more surprising, his premature passing has now become linked to the family legacy of late civil rights pioneer Martin Luther King Jr.

I am grateful to be with you today, to remember Botham Jean and to honor his life. Mothers Against Police Brutality was founded by Collette Flanagan in 2013 after her unarmed son, Clinton Allen, was shot to death by a Dallas police officer. Clinton and Botham Jean share the same birth day, September 29, and were about the same age at death. Botham was also unarmed when Dallas police officer Amber Guyger entered his apartment on September 6, 2018.

My Truth: I helped one voter!

It is working, and I’m keeping hope alive. Thank you, Mrs. R.J. I really appreciate you restoring my faith in my work. Mrs. R.J. read my column last week, where I talked about the deadline to ensure you are eligible to vote and haven’t been erased, cancelled, or disenfranchised. She said she checked on line and found her name missing from the list of registered voters. Mrs. R.J., a senior citizen, thankfully had a daughter to help her, and she also had my number, which I had listed in last week’s newspaper.

Rev. Dr. Frederick Douglass Haynes III tells Roland Martin that Black people and perceived Black progress have been turned into a political “boogeyman.” Haynes is expected to win a congressional race in November to represent the district now held by Jasmine Crockett near Dallas. Haynes argued that attacks on DEI and “woke” politics draw attention away from corruption, the enrichment of wealthy interests, and the dismantling of democratic protections built through the Civil Rights Movement.

From Emerald Pages Report
Emerald Pages
https://emeraldbook.org/
Over 600,000 Black women have been displaced from the labor market since early 2025. Here is the empirical mechanism by which building and participating in an independent Black economy would make those layoffs structurally impossible. The unemployment rate for Black women aged 20 and older jumped to 6.8% in September 2026, up from 5.6% in August—a 1.2 percentage point spike in a single month. Behind that number are hundreds of thousands.

There are more than 100 chemo drugs used to treat cancer – either alone or in combination with other drugs or treatments – each “very different in their chemical composition, how they are taken, their usefulness in treating specific forms of cancer, and their side effects,” says the American Cancer Society. DAILY REMEMBRANCE
Somebody woke up to a void today and is trying to find their way.
Somebody won't be able to make things right because of things they didn't get a chance to say.
Somebody is wishing they could turn back time and gaze into a loved one's eyes. Somebody's heart has been broken by death, and all they can do is cry.
Somebody has fallen to their knees with the weight of sadness today.
Somebody is learning that the only way up from here is to stay on their knees and pray.
