It’s a story that’s almost too good to be true.
Maybe it is too good to be true.
Benjamin Feldman, a Washington, D.C.-based climate change policy consultant, rescued a trove of works that are believed to be by surrealist master Salvador Dalí. They apparently had been stashed away in boxes on the floor of a storage room in rural Appalachia for nearly 20 years. The owner died, and a friend who was clearing out the shed was about to haul the stuff to the dump or to a dumpster.
But Feldman insisted that the prints and a few sculptures should not be thrown away. Instead, he bought them, and now more than 50 of them are on display at the Muckenthaler Cultural Center in Fullerton through June 30.
