A Prayer for Monday (or any day of the week)

by William H. Willimon (adapted)

Gracious God, by your Son, Jesus Christ, in the power of your Holy Spirit, you call ordinary people to do some extraordinary things in service to the gospel. Preserve us, dear Lord, from Monday morning fatigue and Monday despair; keep Sundaying in us, even on a Monday and beyond.

This Monday we praise you for the woman who had the guts to teach three difficult adolescents in a Sunday school class yesterday, to tell them about Jesus, just because she has faith that even energetic young tweens are children of God.

We thank you for the teenager who read scripture and served as liturgist, because she is a gifted reader and has a strong voice. Praise to the church that recognizes her gifts; praise to her for her willingness to use her gifts in her church.

New Journaling Club

As a follow-up to last winter’s spiritual journaling class, we are hosting a monthly journaling “club” on the third Tuesday of each month in the Land Building at 6:00 p.m. We hope to create a holy space to gather for creative solitude and community. We will be inspired by prompts from Suleika Jaouad’s The Book of Alchemy and other creative musings. This will be a place to write and to relax. If you are interested, join us tonight in the Land Building. Bring your favorite journal and pen! For more information, contact Harriet Riley at hriley1@mac.com.
