WE ARE HALFWAY THROUGH THE SUMMER!
|
After a wonderful first two sessions filled with prayer, love, and fellowship, our camping season began Session 3 this past Sunday which will be followed by Session 4 to close out our summer camping program!
Arch Week 2024
From June 30th to July 7th, Arch Week, our program for high school graduates (ARCHERS), bridging the gap to life after highschool, was held at the Conference Center! We were blessed to have Bishop JOHN (Abdalah) of the Diocese of Worcester and New England, Fr. Matthew Howell, Fr. Calinic Berger, and Fr. Michael Shambour, along with the Arch Week staff and a variety of guest speakers who provided spiritual and practical guidance and lectures to the Archers as they transition to a new period of their lives. They spent a full day in Pittsburgh participating in the Neighborhood Resilience Project and even attended a Pirates game at PNC Park (the Pirates won on a walk-off)!

New Service Books just arrived!
After many years, we have new and updated Service Books!
Provided by the Archdiocese Department of Camping Ministries, we, along with the Archdiocese's other camping programs, are so blessed to have just received brand new service books. The books are also being sold at our bookstore and are available online. They will surely be a great resource for our camp community as they guide us in prayer and singing!

A joint Service with our friends from SMI
This past Saturday, July 13th, we welcomed the Sacred Music Institute to St. Ignatius Chapel for a Great Vespers service.
The Department of Sacred Music of the Archdiocese hosted the Sacred Music Institute at the Conference Center from July 10th to 14th. They sang and chanted beautifully along with the summer camp staff!

New Altar Cloths
We have recently recently received new altar cloths that were kindly donated! They will give our clergy a clearer and cleaner space to serve.

Namie Hall
Renovation on Namie Hall is almost done! It is usable for the summer and will be finished in the fall. The new siding, windows, roof, floor, HVAC system, bathrooms, insulation, & walls. We were able to use the space for both Family Camp and Discipleship Weeks.
Thank you so much to those who have contributed to this project and made this transformation possible!

Volunteer Cabins
After over 20 years of housing our volunteers, the Volunteer Cabins are getting some much needed TLC. Camp wouldn't be what it is without these selfless servants, so we want to make their stay a little more comfortable.
| |
|
|
Younger Night Shelters
After 30 years of using large tents to house our young campers on the overnight, we are now in the process of building shelters and are almost complete so they can have a safe camping experience. Fr Chris recently blessed them during Dicipleship Weeks.

|
Patron Saint Shrines
The shrines for our camp patron saints are fully complete! Our shrines commemorating Saints Raphael, Artimieus, and Thekla are fully complete and are adorned with crosses along the corners. We want to ensure the icons of our patron saints are protected as we pray for their intercessions!

Hey AV Alumni! Do you love flipping through our photo albums when you come to visit? Well our Director of Communications Constantine Kallaur has spent the last year scanning all of our photos from our photo collection going all the way back to 1981! In an effort to preserve the history of The Antiochian Village, we are in the process of digitizing as much content as we have. God willing, we'll have every session video going back to the 1990's online in the near future as well.
Check out our SmugMug photo-site below to re-live the AV memories!
