The Board president will call on you. Please note that comments are limited to three minutes. The Board President may increase or decrease the time allowed for public presentation, depending upon the topic and number of persons wishing to be heard.

Please Take Note: New Food Service Hours for SMUHSD Schools
The distance learning/pick up meal service hours were recently modified to the following:
Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7:30 - 11:15 a.m. AND 12:45 - 4 p.m.
Additional Free and Local Food Resources
San Mateo Union High School, Millbrae, San Mateo-Foster City and San Bruno Park School Districts are now offering grab and go meals to ALL students 18 years and younger, regardless of what school they attend. Please help us spread the word about this FREE food resource for the community.
In addition to the above free resources, College of San Mateo and Skyline are also offering free drive-thru community markets for the public through May 2021:

Is your student interested in taking community college courses and earning college credit while paying no tuition during high school? Students who are concurrently enrolled have the opportunity to get an early start on earning CSU and UC transferable credits, explore careers and adapt to college-level courses while still in high school. If you are interested in pursuing Summer and/or Fall 2021 concurrent enrollment opportunities at College of San Mateo, Skyline College or Caňada College, please visit our website for more information.

Unity in the Community Virtual Town Hall: April 13
The Black Parents Association partnering with SMUHSD invites you to join us for an evening of candid conversation and cooperative learning on Tuesday, April 13 at 6:30 p.m.
Student Leader Amulen Rozmus will join the event as co-host. The community will also have the opportunity to work together in breakout groups.

In this interactive (virtual) workshop, you will learn how to be more effective offering emotional support when your child is experiencing strong emotions such as stress, frustration, anxiety, or anger.

Cannabis and the Young Brain

Drawing on nearly two decades of scientific research, this live (virtual) event will explore: What is purpose? Why does it matter? And, how can we — as parents — help our children and teens discover their purpose in life? Kendall Cotton Bronk, PhD, is a professor of psychology in the Division of Behavioral & Social Sciences at Claremont Graduate University. She is the Principal Investigator at the Moral Development Lab, a research organization aimed at understanding how young people develop a sense of purpose.

San Mateo High Students Win High School Category at Student Film Festival
Jamison Chow, Katie Hong and Ashley Stewart of San Mateo High School won in the High School Category of the Citizens Environmental Council Film Contest for their video, "Effects of Rising Sea Levels."
Students in grades 4 through 12 who live or attend school in San Mateo County were invited to enter environmental videos of up to five minutes in length in the contest. There were 22 submissions. CEC awarded cash prizes of $100 to the Elementary School winner, $150 to the Middle School winner and $350 to the High School winners.
The Citizens Environmental Council is a group of volunteers whose mission is to champion regional sustainability through education, advocate for environmental and climate policy, and empower young environmental leaders.

Aragon Robotics Qualifies for Regionals, Wins Award
Currently, both Aragon Robotics's FTC 4345 and FRC 840 are in the midst of an exciting competition season. Aragon's FTC team recently competed virtually at the Cupertino Qualifier, where they placed 5th overall, won the Connect Award for their outreach, and were the runners-up for the Inspire Award.
The Connect Award is given to the team that most connects with their local science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) community. The INSPIRE award is given to the team that best embodies the ‘challenge’ of the FIRST Tech Challenge program.
With this performance, Aragon Robotics qualified for Norcal Regionals, which will take place May 1-2.

San Mateo Adult and Career Education Staff and Students Author Journal Article
The authors surveyed 33 student volunteers and analyzed testimonies of nine staff members to investigate how English as a second language (ESL) student volunteers’ engagement and leadership development plays a significant role in their integration into the larger community and contribute to students’ full civic integration.

Theater students from four Peninsula high schools learned to write and develop one-act plays, with assistance from talented teaching artists, through TheatreWorks Silicon Valley’s Young Playwrights Project.
