RPAC
REALTORS® POLITICAL ACTION COMMITTEE

Funds raised through RPAC are used to support candidates who are sympathetic to real estate-related issues and are directed toward supporting or opposing issues that impact REALTORS®, property owners, renters, and taxpayers.

Since 1969, the REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC) has promoted the election of pro-REALTOR® candidates across the United States. The purpose of RPAC is clear: REALTORS® raise and spend money to elect candidates who understand and support their interests. The money to accomplish this comes from voluntary contributions made by REALTORS®. These are not membership dues. This is money given freely by REALTORS® in recognition of how important campaign fundraising is to the political process. RPAC enables REALTORS® to support candidates that support the issues that are important to their profession and livelihood.

For more information, go to the Government Affairs section of NYSAR.com and/or join the RPAC of New York Facebook Group.

New York State Lobby Day

REALTORS® from across the state attend Lobby Day in Albany to meet with their state officials to discuss key issues such as:

  • New York State Home Fiscal Study (First Time Home Buyer Savings Account)
  • Real Estate Transfer and Transaction Tax Increases
Phone-A-Friend for RPAC

This initiative leverages the power of member to-member outreach to contact non-RPAC investing REALTORS®, educate them about RPAC and ask them to invest in RPAC. Phone banks are one-day events hosted by state and local associations to help meet RPAC Fundraising participation goals.

Calls for Action

Periodically the National Association of REALTORS® or New York State Association of REALTORS® will ask members to participate in electronic Calls for Action on important issues facing the real estate industry. This is a way to lobby our state and federal officials. A recent example of an issue for which a Call for Action was sent was related to National Flood Insurance. It was set to expire, denying necessary insurance coverage to homeowners and buyers in more than 20,000 communities nationwide.

GRAR PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS

About The Complaint Process

The basis for filing an ethical complaint against a REALTOR® should be an allegation by the complainant that a REALTOR® violated one or more of the Articles of the Code of Ethics of the National Association of REALTORS®. A charge of violating the law or the real estate regulations of New York State is not a matter that can be considered by GRAR.

Issues of alleged violations of the Code of Ethics, commission disputes, and even interpersonal conflicts can be addressed with the assistance of the Greater Rochester Association of REALTORS® (GRAR). To discuss a matter, contact GRAR at 585-292-5000.

A formal grievance process assists members and the public in handling disputes of alleged violations of the Code of Ethics (reviewed by the Professional Standards Committee) and/or disputes arising out of a claim for commission (reviewed by the Arbitration Committee). GRAR staff acts as intermediaries between members of the public and REALTORS® and assists in the filing and pursuit of a written complaint.
