The BIG News

AUGUST 2025

Welcome to The BIG News!

It’s a season of new connections! As the school year begins, excitement is building at Big Brothers Big Sisters. We’re gearing up for a season filled with new mentoring matches where we bring Bigs and Littles together to learn, grow and inspire each other.

We’re also stepping into this season with fresh momentum - new partnerships taking shape, refreshed mentoring opportunities on the horizon and more ways than ever to make a difference. It’s the perfect time to be part of what’s next.

Program Director, Maggie Hancock, Executive Director, Ellie Martinez, and Development Director, LaChelle Lewis pose with the 2024 Growth Award at the 2025 Big Brothers Big Sisters of America National Conference in Philadelphia, PA.

Impact in Action

We are thrilled to announce that our agency is a 2024 Growth Award Winner! The Growth Award is given specifically to agencies that have increased the number of youth served. In 2024, we had the first year over year growth in youth served since 2019,and this award recognizes the hard work and commitment of our team in providing exceptional programming for the young people we serve.

We are grateful to our donors, Bigs, Littles, families, and community partners for your support to achieve such an honor - thank you!

Celebrating our Summer Interns

This summer we welcomed two Partnership For the Future (PFF) interns. Interns Jackie and Kristal joined the Programs Team and Development Team and worked on projects to help move the BBBS mission forward. We are grateful for all their help and insight, and wish them the best as they embark on their first year of college. Jackie is off to James Madison University and Kristal is off to the University of Virginia.

A BIG thank you to PFF for their partnership and commitment to serving as mentors for the next generations of college students.
