Message from David for those experiencing anxiety
Since the end of WWII life was pretty good. I am not saying there weren’t significant problems, there were, but we were not being challenged in the way we are being challenged now.
Today, Russia and China want to disrupt the world order not because it is trying to make things better, but because of ego and personal corruption and greed. Russia attacked Ukraine under the guise it was a threat to Russia. It exasperated a global supply chain already reeling from the pandemic not only in manufactured goods, but food and petroleum. For the first time in 40 years, we are dealing with inflation as a result. As drought increases around the world, water is going to be a bigger concern. No water = no crops leading to famine, no yards and burning forests. Reality doesn’t care if you believe in climate change or not. It just is.
Today’s world is more inter connected that ever before. We depend on each other. Instead of coming together we are waring with neighbors and becoming more tribal. The divisiveness in the United States has a higher probability of the destroying our country than any outside threat.
In this environment, uncertainty is growing daily. For a people who like certainty, how do we handle these uncertain times?
First, we start by treating everyone with respect. Taking responsibility for what we say and do, which leads to accountability. It seems no one is accountable any more. It is always the other that is to blame not us. It starts by listening to each other. It starts with Congress relearning that compromise is not a dirty word. It starts by Congress remembering their oath of office. According to Chuck Todd on his Data Download segment on 06-12-22, “only 21% of Americans believe all/most candidates that run for office do so to serve the community”.
Can we solve our problems and reduce anxiety? Yes, we can. We must come together and listen to all concerns. No matter what solutions we propose, not everyone will be happy about the compromises, but we must take action for the sake of our children and ourselves. If we can split the atom and put a man on the moon with limited technology, we can solve these problems too. Our leaders must take action and responsibility to do the right thing.
This a problem we can solve by our choices.
