Welcoming Our New Parish Administrator
and Director of Communications
We are excited to announce that Saint Andrew’s has recently filled two of our staff openings! Both new staff members, who are introduced below, started in the office earlier this week:
| | |
Miranda Mason, our new Parish Administrator, started Monday, July 21st. Miranda relocated to Greenville in February of this year from Washington, DC, where she served as the Parish Administrator of Grace Episcopal Church, Georgetown, for the last three years. While in the Washington Metropolitan Area, she also served as the Director of Christian Education at Vale United Methodist Church in Oakton, Virginia.
Miranda began her career in Church Administration following the completion of a Masters of Theological Studies (M.T.S.) from Boston University’s School of Theology (2022) and a Bachelors in Biblical and Theological Studies (B.A.) from Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, GA (2018).
When not in the office, Miranda can be found crafting or chauffeuring for her 94-year-old grandfather, with whom she resides and cares for. She is an active member of the Knitting Guild of South Carolina, and an avid Country and Swing Dancer.
| | |
Frances Twomey, our new Director of Communications, grew up here in Greenville. She has served in multiple church music and communication roles over the past 15 years. Frances and her husband, Mike, moved back to the upstate in 2020 after serving in Atlanta, GA for a season. They had their son 13 weeks premature in 2022 and are now learning to both advocate for and parent a child with disabilities.
From a young age, music and art were essential parts of her life. Under the mentorship of her choir director and worship pastor, she began to use her gifts in worship, which eventually led to her call to ministry work. Mrs. Twomey has a Bachelor’s of Music in Worship (Anderson University) as well as two master’s degrees from Northern Seminary, a Master’s of Arts in Worship and a Master’s of Divinity. During her masters’ studies she grew her love of writing and communication. Frances is passionate about intertwining the beauty of art with the majesty and inviolability of faith in Christ, and she believes that effective and aesthetic communication is a vital part of ministry work.
Today, Frances is a musician, author, and creative. She is working on her second album currently which is part of a larger project on the intersection of faith and grief. Frances and her family love spending time outdoors, trying new coffee shops, and visiting family out of state.

A Follow-Up Note from the Rector
What a blessing it is for Saint Andrew's to welcome Miranda and Frances to our parish staff! This past week, we have been working hard to get Miranda and Frances oriented to their new roles. It has been a delight to see how their many gifts are already being offered in service to our common mission at Saint Andrew's.
I hope that you will join me in welcoming Miranda and Frances in the days ahead. If you want to send them a welcome e-mail, you can reach Miranda at office@standrewsgreenville.org and Frances at info@standrewsgreenville.org.
Finally, I want to thank a number of individuals who have helped tremendously during this time of transition -- specifically the following:
-
Marie Ridolfo, our former parish administrator, for all the hard work that she did in putting together guidelines, instructions, and other materials that already have and will continue to help immensely;
- The members of the Strategic Task Force on Staffing -- Phil Buck, Anne Kaiser, Lesley Moore, Dan Randall, and Mtr. Lee Ann Tolzmann -- who helped me think through creating a second staff position and dividing the roles as we have now done;
-
Annette Geraghty and Anne Kaiser, who offered their expertise and experience in helping draft and revise our job descriptions;
- The several parishioners who assisted me with job interviews, Linda Fitzsimmons, Anne Kaiser, Annette Geraghty, and Leigh Randall; and
-
Michael Whittington and Sheila Manchester, who regularly volunteered in the parish office in the interim.
Thanks to these individuals and everyone else who helped us to get through this transition time! I am looking forward to the many ways that the parish will benefit from all of this faithful labor as we welcome Miranda and Frances to our staff.
Grace & Peace,
Fr. Gary+

Morning Prayer Update
Morning Prayer will be led by Fr. Tyler on Tuesday and Thursday of this week and will then be taken off of the regular public worship offerings as Fr. Tyler wraps up his curacy. We are hopeful that we will be able to reintroduce the Morning Prayer as a regular public worship offering in the future. If any parishioners have an interest in regularly leading Morning Prayer going forward, please let Fr. Gary know.

Sending Forth Sunday for Fr. Tyler Proctor
Sunday, August 3
As Fr. Tyler’s two-year curacy with Saint Andrew’s comes to a close, we are looking forward to expressing our deep gratitude for all of the ways that Fr. Tyler has offered his gifts in ministry in service to God at Saint Andrew’s. Over the course of these two years, Saint Andrew’s has been richly blessed to be able to participate (for the first time in our history!) in the diocesan curacy program, and we look forward to seeing how God continues to call Fr. Tyler to ever-deepening service in the years ahead. In addition, to sending forth prayers and a blessing offered at both masses, the entire parish will have an opportunity to celebrate Fr. Tyler as we gather, after the 10:30 AM Mass, for a special reception in the Parish Hall. Anyone desiring to contribute to a parting financial gift for Fr. Tyler may do so by making a donation to the Rector’s Discretionary Fund on or before Thursday, July 31 – either by check (with “Rector’s Discretionary Fund” in the memo line) or online credit card payment using the button below (choose “Rector Discretionary Fund” from the “Funds” drop-down menu).

Molly Short, who is a Furman graduate and currently serves as Chaplain at Saint Andrew’s Sewanee Episcopal Boarding School, as our guest preacher at both masses that day.

UPDATED: Parking at Saint Andrew's
For detailed parking instructions, click here.
***PLEASE NOTE - West End Baptist Church, which owns the parking lot around Saint Andrew's, has reduced the parking lot area available on Sundays to the area closer to South Main Street--with the back part of the parking lot (against Rhett Street) no longer available. As a result, please enter the parking lot via South Main Street. The map linked below has been updated to reflect that change.***
| |
Note: You need a parking decal to park in the designated lots. They can be found on the shelf to the left of the doors as you exit the church.
| Sunday Altar Flower and Presence Candle Dedications | |
On Sundays, we have the opportunity to offer a special dedication of the altar flowers or presence candle in honor, memory, or celebration of loved ones. The cost to the church for altar flowers is now $100 per Sunday, so we are suggesting that donations for dedicating altar flowers be in the range of $50 to $100 to help us cover those costs. The suggested donation for a presence candle dedication is $10.
If you would like to sign up for a Sunday, please see the sign up sheet on the bulletin in the Parish Hall or click on the button below. You may place a check in the offering plate with "Altar Flowers" or "Presence Candle" noted in the memo.
We will continue to only have Altar Flowers if someone has signed up and paid for the arrangements. As a result, we will need to know by the Tuesday prior to the upcoming Sunday if you would like to sign up.

A Milestone Story
submitted by Saint Andrew's parishioner, Sara Conrad
| | |
When our granddaughter, Lily, visited us when she was younger, she on occasion would help torch with me on a Sunday 10:30 service. She knew the ropes because she was a member of St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Winston Salem, NC where she frequently served.
To my delight, she was visiting us this past weekend to celebrate a milestone birthday for me. It also happened to be St. Andrew’s turn on Saturday for Feed Thy Neighbor. I couldn’t imagine anything more meaningful, not only to my spiritual life at St. Andrew’s, but also to have my granddaughter with me on that special day. So, I bravely asked a 20-year-old college student (on a short vacation) if she would want to arise at 6:00 am on Saturday to help out. She immediately said yes! Here are a few pics not only from 2025, but also 2016! What a wonderful morning! The whole crew working on Saturday made this a milestone for both Lily and for me!
- Sara Conrad
Thank you to Sara Conrad for submitting this story -- and to her granddaughter, Lily, for sharing in our common life with her grandmother!

Choir | Rehearsal on Sundays at 9:30 AM
We are always seeking additional volunteers for the Saint Andrew’s choir, which currently gathers on Sunday mornings at 9:30 AM (and not on Wednesday evenings) to prepare the music for the 10:30 mass. This more limited time commitment provides an excellent opportunity for prospective new members to “try us out.” If you have questions, contact the Parish Office—or just show up on Sunday morning!
