U.S. Forest Service, Colorado Parks and Wildlife and Eagle Valley Land Trust to host
Sweetwater Community
Open House Series
GYPSUM, Colo. – The U.S. Forest Service, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, and Eagle Valley Land Trust are hosting three in-person open house sessions in the coming weeks to collect initial public input on the future management of Sweetwater Lake and surrounding area.

EVLT is partnering with the U.S. Forest Service and Colorado Parks and Wildlife to manage the area, which was acquired by the Forest Service last fall through the Land and Water Conservation Fund.

These initial public input opportunities will help the Sweetwater planning team in the development of a long-term management plan for the area. Additional public comment opportunity will be offered once the formal planning effort begins.

Feedback at these initial meetings will be collected via comment cards and a community survey. For more information about the community open houses, please contact Bergen Tjossem at bergen@evlt.org.

EVOM x Sweetwater Kickoff
EVLT, the Eagle Valley Outdoor Movement, and representatives from the U.S. Forest Service and Colorado Parks and Wildlife shared a splendid day at Sweetwater Lake in December, marking what will hopefully be the first of many such excursions made possible by the Stewardship & Equity Fund. Jen Prusse and Paula Peterson (USFS) led a tour of the newly acquired property accompanied by birding bingo. We finished at the lodge for tacos de pastor, barbacoa, and fajitas and buñuelo provided by Mi Favorita, a locally owned restaurant in Gypsum, CO. It was an exquisite day.

Stay tuned for our next excursion....
