Y’s Men Membership News

We have added 131 active New Members (year to date) during the 2023-2024 Y’s Men Year (June 1, 2023 to the present).
We look forward to seeing ALL Y’s MEN in person every Thursday morning at Sherwood Island Pavilion beginning this Thursday, May 30, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. For those attending the New Members Luncheon at Gabriele’s Steakhouse at 11:30 am, you have plenty of time to return home after Sherwood Island and change clothes!

This has been another successful Membership Week with two new members.
We look forward to seeing both Hart and Bill at the New Members Luncheon on Thursday, May 30.

*Our bylaws stipulate that all prospective Members must be current or prior residents of either Westport or Weston, CT. Please do not refer anyone who does not meet this criterion.
Y’s MEN MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE
This has been a highly successful and exciting Y’s Men Membership Year. We have now inducted 131 new Y’s Men Members since June 1, 2023. A special “Thank You” to those who have served as Membership Ambassadors this year as well as to our Technology and Finance Teams for efficiently processing the new applications.
A special “Thank you” to Bill Blaufuss for making the name badges and badge box listing, Steve Schiano for making sure the badge boxes were out and returned to storage every Thursday morning, Frank Wood for continual assistance in the Membership process , Allan Siegert for his technical assistance with Membership processes, Ted Horowitz for new member photography, Dick Kalt and Ed Bloch for editing Membership News, and Bruce Borner for ongoing advice and guidance in the Membership process.
I will be completing my Term as Membership Committee Chairman on May 30, 2024. Thank you for all the support this year, and we look forward to continued Membership recruiting, engagement, and retention success in the future.
It has been my honor and privilege to Chair the Membership Committee, and I look forward to the future as I assume new responsibilities in the Y’s Men of Westport/ Weston organization. Thank you also to President Dewey Loselle and the Board for the continuing support of the Membership Committee.
BILL MEYER MEMBERSHIP AWARD
Many of our Members remember Y’s Man Bill Meyer, who “aggressively” recruited many new members for Y’s Men of Westport/Weston as well as for Westport Sunrise Rotary (35).
I had the extreme pleasure of being Membership Co-Chair with Bill for over two years at Rotary and learned the “Membership Process” from him. We will be awarding the BILL MEYER MEMBERSHIP AWARD to the two Y’s Men who have referred the most new members between June 1, 2023 and May 30, 2024. One award will be given to a “Legacy” member of more than one year’s membership, and the second to the new member of one year or less who referred the most new members.
These two awards will be presented at a regular meeting at Saugatuck Church in September 2024.
NEW MEMBER LUNCHEON
For all new Y’s Men Members who joined between November 1, 2023 to the present, we look forward to greeting you to join your fellow new members on Thursday, May 30, 2024 from 11:30 am to 1:15 pm.
The luncheon is being held at Gabriele’s of Westport, 27 Powers Court (adjacent to Westport Country Playhouse).
Following the luncheon, you may join us for a “Backstage Tour” of the Westport Country Playhouse from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm. Any legacy members not coming to the luncheon are invited to join the “Backstage Tour” of the Playhouse at 1:30 pm on May 30. No RSVP is necessary for the Westport Country Playhouse Tour.
CONSUMER REPORTS TOUR
We were allocated additional spots for Y’s Men and there are a few openings currently for Members, Spouses or Friends!
Many of our Members have successfully completed the registration for the Consumer Reports Lab Tour and Wine Taster at the National Headquarters in Yonkers, NY on June 5, 2024 from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm. CEO & President Marta Tellado will greet us with welcoming remarks. This is a T&E exclusive event that will not be repeated. There is a minimum $50.00 donation to Consumer Reports which is a not-for-profit organization under section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
We will be forwarding a list of attendees next week to all who have registered. You will be able to contact other attendees to set up carpooling. The carpooling will be from the Merritt Parkway Exit 42 “Park and Ride” lot meeting at 11:00 am. We will not be arranging carpooling.
REDLINE RESTORATIONS
Save the Date - Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 10:00 am for a Tour of the world renowned, award-winning auto restoration facility located in Bridgeport, CT. This is a T&E Event featuring a comprehensive tour followed by a Y’s Men Lunch. A T&E email for registration will be sent in June. Maximum of 50 attendees.
