District & City Look to Partner on Land Swap for Community’s Benefit
Updates Added as of August 22, 2024
Springboro Schools and the City of Springboro are exploring a potential partnership on a parcel of land within the city limits. The parcel is to include a portion of the sixty (60) acres of land between the proposed commercial area fronting St. Rt. 741 (North Main St.) and the existing homestead of the Easton Farm. This property, which the City plans to enter into a purchase agreement with Easton Farm Partners, LLC, would include roughly twenty (20) of the sixty (60) acres to be set aside for Springboro Schools. Negotiations are currently ongoing between the City and Easton Farm Partners, LLC.
This collaboration between the City and district could provide significant benefits for the Springboro community for years to come.
“We are thrilled to be working alongside the City of Springboro, who continue to be a great partner for our district and the community,” said Carrie Hester, Superintendent of Springboro Schools. “This could present a unique opportunity to expand our educational offerings, while providing a viable solution to the district’s current aging facilities, ultimately enriching the lives of our students, parents, and community members.”
A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Springboro Schools and the City of Springboro involve a land swap, with roughly twenty (20) acres on Easton Farm to be exchanged for the current Springboro Schools’ properties at the former Jonathan Wright Elementary and Clearcreek Elementary. In addition, within the MOU, the potential for a joint venture between the City and district exists for Wade Field, regarding use and maintenance. The Springboro Intermediate school building property would still be maintained by Springboro Schools.
This would not have any immediate impact on the upcoming school year at Springboro Schools, with this potential undertaking being a 3-5-year process, at the minimum.
The specific plans for the land swap between Springboro Schools and the City of Springboro are still under development. Per the MOU, to replace aging facilities, the district could potentially construct a new school building on the roughly twenty (20) acres.
Last month, the district brought an RFQ to the Board at its July 23 meeting, in order for an architectural firm to assess the roughly twenty (20 acres) at Easton Farm, as well as a needs assessment of the district’s current facilities. With this approved, the district then brought its recommendation for approval to hire an architectural firm to the Board at last night's August 21 meeting.

“A land swap remains important to any discussions involving the district’s current aging facilities,” said Terrah Stacy, Springboro Schools’ Treasurer/CFO. “We remain good stewards of the community. By bringing in an architectural firm early, we will be able to explore all possibilities a partnership with the City could bring, while maintaining our responsibility to the taxpayers of Springboro.”
The architectural firm would report their findings to Springboro Schools’ Board of Education at a future meeting this Fall. From there, an interagency operating agreement for actual land transfers would be considered by both the district and the City, pending the City's purchase agreement with Easton Farm.

Student Health Services
District Nurse, Bronwyn Patterson, RN, BSN
Springboro Schools has a dedicated Student Health Services Web Page. Each of our schools has a Registered Nurse (RN) in the school clinic. Their goal is to promote health services and education for all students. Educational outcomes for students are impacted by physical, social, and emotional health, and our school nurses serve as liaisons between education and health care, linking the school, home, and community.
Healthy children make better students and better students make healthy communities. You can find all school health forms under the Student Health Forms Page, as well as parent guides and resources.

Treasurer's Department
Treasurer & Chief Financial Officer, Terrah Stacy
| |
The Treasurer’s Department oversees the financial operations of the entire district, including payroll of more than 600 employees. The Treasurer operates as the Chief Financial Officer and reports to the Board of Education.
Each year the district publishes it's Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR). This document identifies where the district's resources come from, as well as where the district's money is spent. In addition, the PAFR shows a clear picture of how well the resources we receive are being invested in your student's educational future.
All prior PAFR's are available for view on the Treasurer Dept.'s webpage.
