NBP News Summer, 2026

Welcome the NBP's Summer issue of our 2026 Newsletter!

Happy Friday, and welcome to this issue of NBP News! As the seasons change and the year lines up for its final approach, we take a moment to look back on the progress made across our industry and within NBP.

This year has been pivotal for aviation: the FAA has launched sweeping modernization initiatives, plans to upgrade thousands of radios and radar systems, and confirmed Bryan Bedford as Administrator, who noted, “We can do a better job in leadership … especially around modernization.”

At NBP, we’re proud to stand alongside these efforts—advancing critical FAA programs and continuing our legacy of innovation, precision, and reliability. Each milestone reminds us that our work supports something larger: the safety and efficiency of our national airspace.

FAA visits the NBP Campus

NBP hosted the FAA at our Southern California Campus in April, to evaluate the maturity and completeness of the projects currently under development at NBP. During the meetings, NBP's processes were evaluated in detail and we had the opportunity to demonstrate how we design and manufacture our products for not only today's skies, but also the skies of the future. These collaborative visits enable our customers to provide valuable feedback and share innovative concepts that contribute to our continued success.

NBP On The Road

AAAE conference 5.2026

NBP attended the 98th Annual AAAE conference & Expo in Los Angeles! We joined industry leaders May 3rd - 5th and connected with key players across government, defense, and industry as we explored new opportunities in innovation, cybersecurity, and mission readiness. Many attendees visited us to learn more about how we're supporting secure and streamlined aviation operations. We had valuable conversations and made meaningful connections throughout the event.

Medics in the Sky

"Pivotal Trials Ultralight eVTOL for U.S. Emergency Medical Flights / AIN "

An insightful article from AIN Online explores how Pivotal is advancing the use of ultralight eVTOL aircraft for emergency medical services through a new pilot program in North Carolina. The initiative is evaluating how single-seat electric aircraft can support rapid-response operations, enabling trained paramedics to reach critical situations faster and more efficiently.

The concept highlights the growing role of advanced air mobility in public safety, particularly in areas where distance, terrain, or traffic can delay traditional response methods. At NBP, it’s exciting to follow innovations like these as the industry continues to explore new ways to enhance response times, improve operational efficiency, and ultimately support life-saving missions.

Meet the Team...

Behind every innovation, every milestone, and every product we deliver is a team of talented individuals who bring passion, expertise, and dedication to our mission. In each issue, we take a moment to highlight the incredible people behind our mission and the impact they make each day.

modernskies_landing_0 image

Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy and FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford launched a groundbreaking website highlighting the more than 10,000 air traffic control modernization projects that are happening across the nation. The site's data will be updated monthly to ensure the flying public has an unprecedented level of transparency into how their tax dollars are being spent.

The website includes:

  • A project summary – breaking down the key projects and explaining how air traffic control modernization will make our skies safer and more efficient.
  • An interactive map – breaking down project locations by workstream and state.
  • A local impact search engine – by entering, a city, state, airport code, ZIP code, or congressional district, any member of the public can generate a personalized report on what improvements have been completed and what’s coming in the next 30 days.
  • A progress tracker – letting anyone capture a monthly status update on what work has been accomplished and what is left to do.

NBP staff Memorial day Recap!

We asked the team what their plans for Memorial Day were, here were just a few of the answers!

This long weekend marks the beginning of our family vacation. I took a few extra days off so we can travel through Northern California, starting in Monterey to visit the aquarium, then continuing to Hurst Castle, and finishing our trip in Santa Barbara. It will be our first family vacation with our child, so we are especially excited for the experience together.

-Arie Arellano

I'm thrilled for the long weekend because I'll be heading over to Arizona to celebrate with my amazing family! This Saturday marks my 70th birthday, and they're throwing a big party in my honor. I'm eager for a weekend filled with delicious food, lively dancing, laughter, and unforgettable memories. I'm absolutely thrilled to see everyone!

-Carlos Castro

I’m very excited for this long weekend. My wife and I are planning a trip to Newport Beach, which is always a wonderful experience for us. We love taking relaxing walks along the shore, listening to the waves crash, and enjoying the restaurants by the beach.
