Thanksgiving is next Thursday friends and fellow shoppers, but do not panic,
even if to panic is your natural approach to any situation.
Because...
|
We have you covered at the Mississippi Farmers Market!
If you and your family love all of the side dishes almost as much (or even more) than the turkey,
well then please come on down to the Market on Saturday.
- Consider all of the ways there are to work sweet potatoes into your Thanksgiving day menu. Casseroles, pies, cakes, souffles, or roasted, mashed, baked and fried.
- What about squash, zucchini, peppers, eggplant and tomatoes? Try them sauteed, stuffed, roasted, and casseroled. Have you ever tried zucchini bread or tomato pie? You must!
- Drizzle a little olive oil over beets, radishes, turnips, onions and carrots. Add a bit of salt, pepper, garlic or your favorite seasoning and roast in a hot oven. It's such a flavorsome and diverse side dish.
- Put together a delicious harvest salad using apples, pecans, persimmons and pears. Place it on a bed of kale for a colorful and mouthwatering starter.
- Overnight guests need a good breakfast, so pick up some eggs, cheese, bacon, sausage, milk and bread. Stock up on honey, jams, jellies, butter and good coffee - both you and your visitors will be happy and satisfied.
- If baked goods, such as seasonally decorated cookies, or delicious desserts are what you need to finish out the meal, look no further.
- Don't forget the leftovers. Take your turkey, root vegetables, potatoes, tomatoes, beans and greens and create the best and most soul warming soup ever!
- After your 7th meal consisting of leftover casseroles and turkey, do you dream of a juicy hamburger - fully dressed with tomatoes, onions, pickles and special sauce on a sesame seed bun? Do you find yourself trying to remember what a medium rare steak and a leafy green salad tastes like? And, what about a simple broiled pork chop served along side rainbow slaw with a citrus vinaigrette? Don't look for your keys - simply open your freezer door because you stocked up on Saturday here at the Market!
- Don't overlook some of the more interesting fruits and vegetables, even if you are not sure how to prepare them. Use them as centerpieces on your Thanksgiving buffet table, or add to pretty fall flowers for a unique harvest decor.
- Remember to bring your knives and drop them off to be sharpened while you shop. They must be razor sharp to carve that big beautiful turkey.
- Oh, and don't forget to get a jump on your gift-giving list. Look for beautiful, fun and charming works of art, jewelry, cards, quilts, wood products, items for children, holiday decor, and really so much more.
There's actually no need to shop anywhere else because
It's
all
at the Mississippi Farmers Market!
We'll see you Saturday.
