Shalom!

As we embrace this season of gratitude, we are reminded that for

many families in our community, making ends meet has become a

daily struggle. Here at the Jewish Federation of Omaha, we are responding with compassion and action.

I want to share a story that illustrates why your support of the Jewish Federation of Omaha’s 2026 Annual Campaign is so vital.

Many years ago, Sam Wiesman, David Alloy’s grandfather, coined the

term “snothing.” It means what you have when you have less than nothing. David remembers a time in his life when he had snothing and that memory has inspired a lifetime of generosity.

“I remember what it was like to have no food. So that’s why it’s important

for me and my wife Carol to help the Jewish Family Service food pantry

by regularly donating food and money. We want to help people in need,

so their struggle is alleviated just a little bit.”

This story is one of many we encounter everyday here at the Jewish Federation of Omaha. A story of need and caring.

More families are asking for assistance to make ends meet, and more elderly

are relying on us for comfort and care.

The Jewish Family Service food pantry is only one example of how our Jewish Federation is supporting those in need throughout our community. We cannot do it alone.

Your gift to the 2026 Annual Campaign can turn “snothing” into something – hope, dignity, and nourishment.

Together, we can finish this Annual Campaign with strength - and with heart.

Please donate today.

With gratitude,
