Why does it matter if kids are reading well by third grade?

After third grade, the focus of reading in school shifts from learning to read, to using reading as a way to learn new topics. Data shows that if a student at this milestone is not reading at proficiency (a term that means adequate comprehension of material), that student is 4x less likely to graduate by age 19.

How do you go about fixing such a big issue?

Teams called Collaborative Action Teams are going to be using a project management framework called the Collaborative Improvement Process to achieve their goals.

This model was created by StriveTogether and is a simplified path for complex problem solving.

What are the Collaborative Action Teams doing now?

Right now, our Collaborative Action Teams are have in early development stages and are determining their purpose statements and group agreements.
