Results of Board Elections

Thank you to all who voted in the fall Board elections and for generously donating to WILPF and renewing memberships. Fifty-seven members renewed their memberships, raising $2,265, and members donated an additional $1,625 to WILPF. The election was uncontested; here are the tallies:
  • At-large member: Teresa Castillo (255, yes; 3, none of the above)
  • Membership Development Chair: Shilpa Pandey (255, yes; 3, none of the above)
  • Treasurer: Jan Corderman (249, yes; 10, none of the above)
Unfortunately, no one ran for the two remaining openings on the Board: Program Chair and Personnel Chair. The Board, according to the Bylaws, may appoint interim Board members. The Nominating Committee urges WILPF members to seriously consider applying for these one-year, interim positions for 2017. Please see more information below.

A big "Thank You" goes to the Portland Branch, in particular Anne McLaughlin and Celeste Howard, who counted the ballots and tallied donations and membership renewals. This is no easy task, and their service to WILPF is greatly appreciated.

Applications for the two open positions are due, by e-mail, by January 7. For the Personnel Committee Chair, members with knowledge of human resources are especially urged to apply. For the Program Committee Chair, a desire to help guide the direction of WILPF's program and some experience in strategic planning or other program work are valuable qualifications. Any interested members should apply by downloading the application.

In the fall 2017 elections, five Board positions will be open: Personnel Chair, two Program Chairs, Secretary, and At-Large Member. The Personnel Chair and one of the Program Chairs will serve the second and third years of three-year positions. The Nominating Committee will work hard to find multiple candidates for each position, but your help is needed. If you know of anyone who might be a good candidate, contact the Nominating Committee.
