"Where the creativity of human mind, spirit and experience is celebrated everyday."

Week #9:

Celebrate Endless Light

with Hanukkah

Hanukkah, the Jewish eight-day "festival of lights" begins at sundown this Thursday. For those celebrating with a menorah, 44 candles will be lit, readings and prayers offered and foods shared in this annual "feast of dedication."

Hanukkah will be celebrated in both very traditional and non-traditional ways by both devout Jews and those embracing some Jewish traditions that add meaning and connection to their lives. Readings might be from the Torah or they might be from more contemporary rabbis or authors. Blessings are given as light is kindled in both remembrance and inspiration.

Here are eight less-traditional but universal words of hope and blessing we can all celebrate together.

These words were inspired by suggested Hanukkah blessings shared by jewbelong.com. By clicking on the link you can see the readings.

As we continue to light our own candles, let us join those celebrating Hanukkah to

share light this holiday season!

We are continuing to add to our "gift suggestions" in our online store. Click here to see some new additions. Our list will keep growing to help you with your holiday gifting in the weeks to come!

Brrr! Stay Warm gifts. Whether it's a shawl for around shoulders while curled up reading a book or bundling up to venture outside in the cold, we have many to choose from. And fleece-lined wool hats and cozy gloves, because blustery days ARE coming! Mismatched Solmate socks in either cottons or wool-blend will keep toes toasty whether padding around the house or tucked into boots. Or add some tea, coffee or hot chocolate into a lovely hand-painted Turkish mug.

Gifts for Clarity and Focus. Journals for recording thoughts and inspiration. Incense and room mists to add uplifting sensory experiences. Word bowls and cups from ZPots are great reminders to stay grounded in hope and love.

Foodies and Experimental Cooks are a particularly fun category this year with so many either trying out basic newly-learned cooking skills or stretching into gourmet cuisine. Blue Q oven mitts are sure to bring a smile. Our new collection of spice mixtures drawn from traditional cooking in some African countries add new flavors to enjoy. Lovely handmade Turkish spoon rests look lovely beside any stove no matter what messes surround them. Jill Claxton's chili ornament as well as other fruits and vegetables are charming gifts for all cooks and food lovers.

Avian Lovers Gifts. Whether you're looking for gifts for a back yard bird-watcher or a bird life-lister, there are birds to charm and enchant. Jill Claxton's crane towers over a quirky peacock crafted out of recycled flip flops. Also in the re-purposed category is a metal bird from India. Our chickadee snow globe is surrounded by a sweet little carved soapstone blue bird, a ceramic "life is sweet" spoon holder, a Celedon porcelain bird and a hand-carved bird ornament.

For Those On The Move - Love sports, games and being on the move? From yoga to pickle ball to baseball and even desk top games, you can find gifts to celebrate those loving the active life.

For Music Aficionados. For a classical music fan, a Kei and Molly "Chamber Music" dish towel. How about a "Blues Christmas" CD or Mara mug celebrating instruments? A little thumb piano or kalimba from Mountain Melodies sounds great when played by all ages - and comes with a little song book! Bob Marley as a holiday ornament? So great!

Hope, Peace, Joy and Love

Greetings!

We love greeting customers who are stopping in to "shop local" this holiday season. Some come with lists of names of friends and family ready to discover the perfect gift for each. Some come with a list of lovely gift ideas they've seen in these newsletters or online and they already know who will receive which items. Some come in "just getting ideas" and wander for awhile before choosing gifts for us to wrap. We love it all.

ALSO, SHOP EARLY this holiday season!!

We know from many of our small companies that will will not be able to re-order and re-stock many products. Due to workshops still being closed down routinely due to COVID and limited shipments coming from many countries, we may run out of many items. We encourage you to shop early.
