FRIDAY FLASH

May 5, 2023

A Note from Dr. Scott

Dear Archway Trivium families,

Aristotle believed that to truly be a friend, one had to first become a virtuous person. The logic is fairly simple. A friend is one who desires good for another and has the ability to provide it. A bad person would be limited in their capacity to do good for others, and likely would have difficulty in desiring good. But wait! People are not easily categorized as good or bad. We all have both within us. This is why we need to learn to think and reason well, and above all else, we need to cultivate humility. A challenging course of study in the liberal arts provides the skill and habits needed to grow in virtue. We pride ourselves on the friendship we enjoy on our campus, and we are right to do so. We also need to remember that it is our shared pursuit and engagement with challenging work that unites us. As this year winds to a close, I wish to express my appreciation for being able to share in that pursuit with all our faculty, staff, students, and families. Thank you!

Heartily Devoted,

Dr. Clay Scott

Headmaster

Student Pledge Leaders: Asher C., Adrianna C., Jeremy N., Hailey P.

Driveline Pick-up Cards

We appreciate the scholars and parents who have used the Driveline successfully. As we enter the 4th quarter, some families have used all the 3 temporary Driveline passes allotted. Please follow this link to order more cards (2 cards = $1.00). We appreciate your cooperation.

Reminder: No Student Drop-off/Pick-up from Neighboring Businesses

Parents - You may not use the parking lots of neighboring businesses for student drop-off/pick-up. We have received multiple complaints from the Southwest Kidney Institute. Per the City of Goodyear police, this is considered trespassing and citations may be issued.

School Office Hours

As a reminder, the Front Office open at 7:30 AM each morning and closes at 3:30 PM on regular school days and at 1:50 PM on Wednesdays. If you need to stop by the office, please plan to do so during Office Hours. Thank you!

Traffic Flow for Student Drop-off/Pick-up

With the expansion of Archway and addition of the new building, there are significant changes to the traffic flow for the upcoming school year. Please carefully review the new Archway Traffic Flow for Student Drop-off and Pick-up and reach out with any questions. Taking the time to understand these procedures will help to ensure the safety of our students/staff and a smooth traffic flow.

Carpooling Update: Our east side pick-up lane has had a faster track and will now be our designated carpool lane.

If you have 2 or more Archway ONLY pick-up cards, you will be guided into this fast-track lane for a faster pick-up. Please be sure to have your pick-up cards ready to show our traffic controllers that you are carpooling so they can guide you to the appropriate lane. To maintain the flow of pick-up, others may be directed to the fast-track lane, but carpools will be given priority. Please do not enter the carpool lanes until you are directed to do so.

As a reminder, if you are picking up Middle School students DO NOT ARRIVE to campus before 3:15 PM. This creates significant delays. If you arrive before 3:15, we will ask you to go back into our pick-up lanes and try again.

Please follow the link below to review the DETAILED Archway Traffic Flow Plan and be sure to share this link with anyone authorized to drop-off/pick-up your children.
