This Week's Announcements:

Congregational Meeting Notice

Upon receiving a report from the Officer Nominating Committee, the Session has called a congregational meeting this Sunday at the close of worship for the purpose of electing 3 Elders and 1 Trustee.

The nominees for your consideration are:

Linda Cossaboon - Congregational Care (Class of 2028)

Being involved with church has always been an important part of my life. I grew up attending the neighborhood church and that church, Trinity United Church of Christ holds many fond memories for me. This is the church where we were married, our children were baptized, but most of all this is the church where I found my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Shortly after our children were born, we moved to Bordentown New Jersey and this is where we resided and raised our family for the next 31 years. Through our neighbors we found Covenant Presbyterian Church, and this became “Our Church”. At Covenant I found myself over the years, along with Paul, serving the Lord in many different ways. Serving on Session, Board of Deacons, Congregational Life and Fellowship, Worship and Music and visiting our shut-ins. Upon retiring in September 2015 and moving to South Carolina, we knew it was important to find a church that we could call home. A church that not only preached the Gospel but lived it. We found that here at Grace Covenant. I have served on Session prior and feel humbled and blessed to once again be asked to serve in this capacity.

Sarah Lasitter - Worship (Class of 2028)

Sarah Lasitter has been a member since 1991 and has served as an elder several times, variously chairing Worship and CE and serving as Clerk of Session. She is completing a 2-year term as Worship Chair and will serve two more years if elected. She is a retired school psychologist and is grateful to have more time to spend on church work these days.

Tami Wall - Christian Education (Class of 2028)

I have lived in the Greenville area my entire life and raised my daughter Casey and son Cody here. Growing up a ‘church rat’, I am a ‘grass roots’ Christian educator. I’ve made a career in the church arena since the age of 18- serving as youth camp; children’s director or as church educator in several churches and directing faith-based preschools. I am currently the director at John Knox Presbyterian Kindergarten. I actually attended kindergarten at Grace Covenant over sixty years ago. I began attending worship back in the spring and joined over the summer. I was drawn to the sincerity of Trish’s sermons and have come to love the warmth and vibrancy of this congregation and their focus on missions and social justice. I am enjoying singing in the choir. In my spare time I read, do art and visit my grandchildren. I look forward to adding, hopefully, my meager gifts to the wonderful ministry at Grace Covenant.

David Tinga - Trustee (Class of 2029)

I joined Grace Covenant in 1987 at the invitation of a neighbor. I have been privileged to serve as a Deacon and an Elder. Over the years I have participated in several areas of the church including the Fellowship committee, Property committee, Administration committee, Pastor Nominating committee, Officer Nominating committee , usher team and the communion prep team. I retired 5 years ago after a career as an insurance adjuster. I enjoy traveling and spending time with family.

In accordance with the Book of Order (G-2.0401), full opportunity shall be given for nominations from the floor by any active member of the congregation. Before making a nomination from the floor it is required that you obtain the permission of the person you wish to nominate.

All active members of the congregation may vote, so please plan to participate in this important business of the church at the conclusion of worship this Sunday.

Interested in Joining?

If you’ve found a church home at Grace Covenant and would like to make your connection more official, we would love to welcome you as

a member.

Membership isn’t about receiving special treatment—everyone who is part of our community is valued and welcomed. Rather, membership is a commitment: a way of saying, This is the community where I want to follow Jesus alongside others who are seeking to do the same.

A new member class will be offered soon. If you’re interested in joining—or simply want to learn more about Grace Covenant—please contact the church office. We’d be delighted to have you!

October Cereal Offering

This month, Grace Covenant was able to offer:

  • 27 boxes of cereal
  • 25 individual serving-sized boxes of cereal
  • 2 packages of oatmeal
  • 256 individual servings of grits or oatmeal

Thank you for your continued generosity!

October is Water Month

Water is a precious resource that we often take for granted. Join the Water Mission at the Greenville Walk for Water on Saturday, November 7th. Click here for more information.

Each week, Grace Covenant will be praying for a person who lives in a part of the world without access to clean water. This week, we are lifting up Melissa. Melissa and her family were displaced when hurricanes Eta and Iota tore through her community, destroying homes, factories, and crops. After the storm, Melissa said, " I want water [at home] more than electricity... Once we clean up here, we can make do with whatever we have, but I want safe water for my family. Friends like you enabled Water Mission to restore access to safe water in La Danta and many other communities reeling after the disaster.
