Every young person deserves to feel welcomed, seen, and celebrated. At Big Brothers Big Sisters, we create spaces where young people can show up as their full, authentic selves—connecting with mentors who uplift, empower, and inspire.

Did you know? More than half of the Littles we support through mentorship are girls, and women make up our largest group of volunteer mentors! Their impact—past, present, and future—shapes lives and strengthens our community.

This month and every month, we celebrate the powerful contributions of women and girls in our programs and beyond. #BeBig #WomensHistoryMonth

MEET BIG BROTHER RYAN

Matched with Little Brother Brandon in our Cabarrus High School Bigs program

What is something that makes your match work so well?

Brandon loves that I remember what he says from week to week. I try to remember what he tells me when we talk so I can ask him about it the following week. He always smiles when I ask about something we previously talked about.

What changes have you seen in your Little?

Brandon was much more reserved and closed off when our match began. He joined the robotics team at school this year and really started coming out of his shell. I'm proud of him for doing something that was out of his comfort zone!

How does it feel to be a Big?

I love coming to see Brandon every week. It really is the highlight of my week to get to meet with him.

LET'S PLAY CHESS!

Bigs & Littles, ages 8-14, are invited to a chess workshop hosted by the Charlotte Chess Center in partnership with the Grant Williams Family Foundation!

Come out and enjoy a fun game of chess with Grant Williams from the Charlotte Hornets!

Registration is required.

BIG FUTURES IN CONSTRUCTION!

Bigs and Littles attended a Construction Career Expo hosted by MSS Solutions. Matches experienced live trade demonstrations, explored career pathways, and connected with industry professionals while enjoying games, prizes, and giveaways. Thank you to MSS Solutions and all of the partner companies for creating such a meaningful experience for our youth.

BIG TIP CORNER!

Never underestimate your impact as a Big!

"Having a mentor is like having a personal guide who supports and challenges you, helps you build confidence, and offers a safe space to learn and grow. It's great to have someone you can trust, who will listen to you without judging you. It feels good to have a consistent person in your life who you can count on." - Little Sister Ahnyla
