A student and teacher share a high five next to the words "Community Newsletter" and the Preschool for All logo

Every year, our community comes together to help connect families with Preschool for All. This year, our biggest yet, we're asking for your help spreading the word about current PFA openings to families who may not know about the opportunity!

Many Preschool for All sites are full, and many families are still waiting for a placement. But at the same time, some wonderful Preschool for All providers across Multnomah County still have seats available and are actively enrolling for this school year.

That means there are children who could start preschool this fall if the right family hears about the right program!

Whether you're a parent, grandparent, educator, neighbor, librarian, coach, faith leader, business owner, or simply someone who cares about children, you can help.

Five Easy Ways to Help

Share the Current Openings

Know someone with a three- or four-year-old? Send them the link to Preschool for All's current openings. They may be surprised to learn there are still programs with available seats!

Start One Conversation

Mention Preschool for All at school pickup, at work, with neighbors, or in your group chat. Sometimes all it takes is someone saying, "Have you checked Preschool for All lately? Some sites still have openings."

Share With Your Community

If you're connected to a neighborhood association, faith community, parent group, or local business, consider sharing information about Preschool for All through a newsletter, bulletin board, social media post, or flyer. PFA flyers in several languages are available to download.

Remind Families: Every Program is Different

Many people don't realize how many different types of Preschool for All programs are available! Families can choose from family child care homes, center-based preschools, and school-based classrooms. Programs offer things like language immersion, culturally responsive learning, outdoor exploration, Montessori and Montessori-inspired education, STEAM, arts, inclusive classrooms, and more! Every family can look for the learning environment that's the best fit for their child.

Keep Sharing!

Even if you’ve mentioned Preschool for All earlier this year, it's worth mentioning again! Some families weren't ready to enroll before. Others assumed every preschool was already full. A simple conversation could help a child start preschool this fall, and helps ensure our community’s investment serves everyone it possibly can!

EVERY CONVERSATION MATTERS

Helping fill these open preschool seats isn't something only the County’s Preschool for All team can do – it's something our whole community can be part of!

Think about the people in your life…

  • A coworker with a preschooler
  • A neighbor who's still figuring out child care
  • A friend who's been waiting for a preschool opening
  • A family you know through your child's school or activities

Sharing information about Preschool for All could help connect a child with a high-quality preschool that fits their family's needs.

Together, we can make sure more children start this school year with the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.
