Bristol, RI – Spring in Rhode Island means one thing: it’s time for the return of Sheep & Wool Festival at Coggeshall Farm Museum. On Saturday, May 17th, this beloved event will bring the sights, sounds, and textures of traditional fiber arts to life, celebrating the deep-rooted connection between the region and its agricultural past.
Reimagined and rebranded in 2024, the festival was met with overwhelming enthusiasm. As seen in last year's news coverage by The Providence Journal (2024 Sheep & Wool Festival), the event drew large crowds and showcased the rich tradition of fiber arts in Rhode Island. Coggeshall Farm Museum invites locals and visitors alike to experience the wonders of this time-honored tradition and learn about its immense agricultural importance throughout early American history. Guests will experience firsthand the love these artisans have for their craft and for the animals that make it possible in a uniquely immersive way.
Throughout the day, guests can enjoy sheep shearing demonstrations, wool dyeing demonstrations, and spinning and weaving exhibits, all showcasing traditional skills that have shaped New England’s farming heritage.
In addition to demonstrations, guests will have the chance to browse a large selection of fiber goods from the festival’s many vendors. Artisans and creators from across New England will be at Sheep & Wool Festival showcasing and selling their hand-made products.
“Sheep & Wool Festival was an incredible success last year,” says Shelli Costa, Executive Director of Coggeshall Farm Museum. “We’re thrilled to bring it back with even more vendors, activities, and opportunities for guests to engage with Rhode Island’s agricultural heritage. Whether you’re an experienced fiber artist or just curious about the process, this event is an amazing way to connect with history, craft, and community.”
As part of the festivities, guests are invited to showcase their own fiber creations or artwork inspired by animals at Sheep & Wool Festival. Pieces will be on display at the festival under an open-sided tent. Attendees will have the opportunity to vote on their favorite piece, and the winner will receive a family membership to Coggeshall Farm Museum and more.
The Coggeshall Farm Museum Sheep & Wool Festival will run from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 17th. Tickets are on sale to the public and vendor spaces are still available. Sheep and Wool 2025 is sponsored by Charles E. Millard Inc. Coggeshall Farm Museum welcomes community support and offers a variety of sponsorship opportunities for this event.
