Earth Week with EVLT is back!
For the winter lovers among us, snooze this email. For those eager to frolic in the wildflowers, keep reading, because no matter what that groundhog from Pennsylvania thinks, spring is a-coming! And boy do we have a way to kick things off!

That's right, the rumors are true...Earth Week with EVLT is back and better than ever! Join your local land trust from April 17th - April 23rd as we get together for a week of conservation and connection to celebrate Nature and the fruits of springtime in the valley. We'll be launching our signature Community Land Connection Series, hosting a virtual auction, showcasing our awesome partners, and much more.
Stay tuned for the official schedule coming soon!

Anything you'd like to see happen during Earth Week 2022? Let us know at community@evlt.org.
Join our friends at the Eagle River Watershed Council for the 7th Annual Wild & Scenic Film Festival presented by Avon Frame Shoppe - this year as a hybrid event! You can join in person for an evening of films meant to inspire environmental stewardship from local to global at the Riverwalk Theatre in Edwards or from the comfort of your own home. Proceeds from this event support educational programming like Watershed Immersions, RiverWatch and more.

Visit erwc.org/filmfest to learn more about the event, the silent auction and to purchase tickets.

What do asteroids and elk have in common?
Adam McKay’s new film, “Don’t Look Up” — a star-studded satire about two astronomers who go on a media tour to warn mankind of an approaching comet that will destroy planet Earth — has succeeded in something truly novel: bringing climate change to the big screen. The reviews are mixed, but it’s undeniable that Al Gore’s “The Inconvenient Truth” (and its mid-viewing powerpoints) pale in comparison to quite literally anything Leo and JLaw do together.

Besides dabbling in movie reviews, the film has your local land trust thinking about climate change’s less talked about, yet just as ruinous counterpart: biodiversity loss. The term refers to the decrease in any aspect of biodiversity (i.e. the genetic, species or ecosystem level). This could be 100 acres of clear-cutting to the decimation of the American bison. And the consequences of biodiversity loss are immense. Food systems, medicine and keeping infectious diseases at bay all depend on a biodiverse planet.
