Supporting children, youth and the people who care for them.

Hello,

November is here, and we have another great month planned at Childhood Connections! Check out this month’s newsletter for upcoming parenting supports, family programs, healthy living programs, and activities for children.

The 20th of November is National Child's Day. Be sure to take a look at the events below, featuring two family events on the 18th and 20th for the whole family!

Please note, our office is closed on November 11th as we take time to remember and acknowledge those who have served and sacrificed.

Warm Regards,

Early Years Resources

Read, speak, sing to your baby: How parents can promote literacy from birth

Learning to read starts from birth. Babies learn how to read signals all around them by listening to voices, watching faces and reading body language. They need to hear and use sounds, sound patterns and spoken language. These early experiences help prepare them to learn to read, write, and succeed in school.

Youth Resources

Talking to Your Child About Puberty

Talking about puberty isn’t a one-time conversation. Talk to your kids about the changes their bodies will go through as they grow. Some girls start puberty at 8 years old, and some boys do by 9. So you may need to start these talks earlier than you think. Discuss the physical and emotional changes that come with puberty before they begin.
