Spotlight on Alleviating Hunger - Meals on Wheels Adult Forum + Donations for the Hearts and Hands Fridge and Pantry:

following the service this Sunday

This Sunday, we are excited to welcome Will McFarland, Director of Development at Meals on Wheels Northeastern Illinois. Meals on Wheels is a 2026 St. A's Christian Outreach grant recipient. Will oversees community partnerships and volunteer engagement to support the organization's mission of delivering nutritious meals and wellness checks to our homebound neighbors. Come hear about their impactful work, learn more about the food insecurity and social isolation facing older adults and individuals with disabilities right here in the community, and discover how you can get involved alongside fellow St. Augustine’s parishioners.

This forum continues our two-week spotlight on alleviating hunger, during which St. A's is sponsoring the Hearts and Hands community fridge and pantry in Evanston. While the forum meets, our youth group will be busy assembling kits of shelf-stable snacks for children and teens and delivering them to the pantry (see below). If you'd like to support our youth's efforts, sign up here to contribute supplies for the kits. You may also bring shelf stable items like cereal, boxed mac and cheese, ramen, canned tuna and chicken, etc. Donations can be dropped in the pew in the front hall on the side labeled "Hearts and Hands."

Youth Group Service Event - Stocking the Community Pantry:

This Sunday, October 18, 11:00 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.

This Sunday, October 18, the St. A’s Youth Group will help stock the new Hearts and Hands Community Fridge in Evanston with food and snacks especially for children and teens. For young people living with food insecurity, these kits provide not only sustenance but also normalcy and dignity.

We will gather from 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. in Classroom A to assemble snack kits, decorate reusable shopping bags for recipients to keep, and write cards of encouragement. Then we will travel together to the fridge to deliver the food and see the community pantry, returning to St. A’s by 12:45 p.m.

Not in the youth group? You can still sign up to contribute snacks for our kits. See the link and article above for how to donate. Thank you!

ReVive Christmas Basket Program at St. A's

Christmas is coming, and St. A’s is once again participating in the ReVive Christmas Basket Program. The ReVive Center for Housing and Healing in Chicago is committed to preventing homelessness and restoring hope. Your gift helps restore hope in a tangible way this giving season, and helps gladden the hearts of people who may have few resources. Sign-ups begin this Sunday at church. Watch your inbox tomorrow for more information!

A beautiful tradition at St. A’s is remembering the names of our beloved dead on All Saints’ Sunday. The names will be represented visually as we have done in the past few years. To be included in this remembrance, please submit the name(s) of those you love but see no longer by completing the form found in the pews this Sunday (or here) or by emailing Theresa. All submissions must be received no later than Monday, October 26. All those whose ashes are interred in our Columbarium and all who have been buried from St. A’s in the last year will be remembered; please do not list those names. All others are remembered by request only.
