After learning about Harris-Stowe State University’s new STEM Center, Lab Design News wanted to explore how the transformative project came to life. Taylor Johnson worked with client LJC Design & Engineering and project partners to provide insights into the collaborative planning and design of the new $62 million STEM education and research facility in St. Louis. The largest capital project in the university’s history, the flexible, multidisciplinary complex was designed by LJC, with laboratory planning by HERA Laboratory Planners. Featuring adaptable labs, collaborative learning environments and infrastructure designed to accommodate future programs, the project showcases how thoughtful planning can help higher education institutions stay responsive to the changing demands of STEM education and workforce development.
