MISSION u 2025:

Practicing Hope Together

Many of us are struggling with finding hope - globally, locally, and personally. Join us at Mission u for meaningful worship, lessons that speak truth, and time to fellowship with others - not to put a band aid on the anxiety, grief, and uncertainty we are experiencing, but to help each other find that brave space we need to grow. We will care for your soul and share times of joy and fun as well. The scripture basis for the lessons are the gospel accounts just after the resurrection of Jesus.

ALL ARE WELCOME!

3-day Retreat at McMurry University • Virtual Evening Class • Virtual Morning Class • Virtual Evening Class in Spanish

HOW ARE YOU PARTICIPATING?

1st Plano UWFaith dresses for JS girls

OUR 2025 MISSION PROJECT:

The Jerri Savuto Girls Center

The Center provides a safe haven for girls escaping forced marriage, so now the girls can attend school and thrive. Together we are helping change these girls lives. Members across the Conference are busy creating and collecting items for the Jerri Savuto girls. See our new Photo Album of some local UWFaith group's projects. Please share how your group is supporting our 2025 Conference Mission Project. See pictures of UWFaith of 1st Plano and 1st Denton. Pictures from SEWFEST show women from 3 churches working together over two Saturdays!

Send your pictures to photos@uwfaithhtc.org

Most importantly, we want the JS Girls to stay safe! Now that the girls have a safe center to call home, the priority is to build a security fence to keep them safe from those who come to force them to return to unsafe situations. (There have been many attempts) Tell us about your fundraising efforts and inspire us all. Let's get that security fence built!

Full information about our 2025 Mission Project is here.

ACTUAL NEWS UPDATE

Lydia Paatterson Institute

Thursday, June 12, 2025 -- Lydia Patterson Institute received word that the U.S. State Department has paused visa interviews for incoming foreign students, effective immediately. Now, Lydia Patterson Institute students will be unable to obtain a visa for continuing their studies this fall. This move will impact nearly half of the school's population. The school is preparing online options to ensure students can continue learning if they cannot cross the border. Founded in 1913 and based in El Paso, Texas, Lydia Patterson Institute is a private, faith-based United Methodist school that serves students in the El Paso-Juarez border region, providing education from sixth through twelfth grade. The school has long supported binational learning opportunities for students from both the U.S. and Mexico. Many UWFaith groups have supported LPI in past years. Pray for the students, their families, the school & staff during this difficutl time. .

It's a small world after all -- or is it? We've used the telephone and sent letters or telegrams to connect with one another. Now we can connect with family, friends, peers and colleagues in a myriad of ways....
