Compatriots and Friends of the SAR
We had an amazing kick-off to Sacramento's America 250 celebrations. A lot of SAR, DAR, and CAR members planned and worked together to make these events a success.
On July 1st, SAR members, led by Don Littlefield marched in Folsom's Hometown Parade. On July 4th, under the leadership of Russ Kaiser, we had an outstanding group of SAR, DAR, and CAR members participate in the Carmichael 4th of July Parade.
The parade was led by our Color Guard who fired muskets in designated locations, followed by the National Colors and many family and friends carrying historical flags and SAR, DAR, and CAR trailers for those who couldn't walk the route. This is the first chapter musket firing event in over 12 years and I offer my special thanks to Russ Kaiser and the guardsmen who trained and drilled weeks in advance to make sure we had a safe event.
In my opinion, this was the best SAR DAR CAR parade that I ever attended. I attribute this success to early planning and the leam-work between the SAR and DAR chapters to make this an unforgettable event. Thank you ALL!

Craig has asked that you be informed of his medical situation.
On July 17, he was admitted to Sutter Medical Center for heart related issues, excessive fluid buildup, and a very high white blood cell count.
He has incurable leukemia, his kidneys are failing, and his time is now very short. He and Sandra have made several end-of-life decisions. He has chosen to receive only minimal hospice care focused on comfort and has now returned home.
Please keep Craig, Sandy, and their family in your prayers.

Thank you so much, Mark! You guys were fantastic! I heard many rave reviews for sure!! I am working on collecting photos, as I did not take many with my camera . I’ll get them over to you today. I wish I could’ve gone over to the parade but didn’t make it. I really appreciate all your time and efforts with this presentation !

THE NATIONAL SOCIETY SONS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION’S
YOUTH PROTECTION POLICY
“The SAR strives to create and maintain a safe environment for all youth who participate in SAR sponsored activities. To the best of their ability, Compatriots and staff, their spouses and partners, and other event volunteers must safeguard the children and young people with whom they come into contact and protect them from physical, sexual, and psychological abuse.”
Youth Protection Awareness and Youth Protection Training
All Compatriots should be aware of the need for Youth Protection Programs and the NSSAR’s YP Policies. Youth Protection Training (YPT) is a critical component of the best practices for organizations who work with young people and for the SAR it is mandatory for all Compatriots in Leadership Positions, Color Guard Members, School Guard Members, and Professional Staff and any Compatriots who work with young people through our Education Outreach Programs, Youth Contests, or with the Children of the American Revolution. This would include but is not limited to Compatriots on the following committees: Americanism, American History Teacher Award, Eagle Scout, Knight Essay, ROTC/JROTC, Rumbaugh and Engagements, Education, CAR Liaison and the Council of State Presidents.
| | |
On successful completion of the SAR YPT, you will receive an electronic diploma in PDF format. Forward a copy to: craigandersonsar@gmail.com
| |
Cyber Scams
If you receive an email from a purported Compatriot in need of help that is unsigned, with no personal contact information seeking contributions to any type of fundraising site; or an email addressing you by name from another member of your Chapter requesting the expenditure of funds or the purchase of gift cards, consider it a hoax. These messages are getting more sophisticated and may even include the unauthorized use of the SAR logo and/or a pseudo SAR email address.
