It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of Raynalee, the 19-year-old daughter of our colleague Celeste. Ray was taken from her mother Celeste and her family by gun violence, leaving behind a legacy of creativity, light, and love.

To honor her memory, Celeste’s loved ones have created a GoFundMe: Remembering and Honoring Our Ray’s Spirit and Legacy. Every contribution will go directly to the family during this difficult time. Thank you for standing with Celeste and honoring Ray’s life.

Richard always enjoys seeing the new faces and answering questions about his thought process, what he learned back in the day that he still practices now, and other questions about MNC’s culture and practices. There were also two raffles with prizes! Congratulations to Rogelio Campos Garcia and Frank Ochoa for winning the special mugs.

MNC hosted a Welcome and Farewell Reception for new Consul General Marco Antonio Mena Rodriguez and outgoing Consul General Ana Lusia Vallejo who is moving to Uruguay on a new (and soon to be announced) assignment. More than 100+ friends and community leaders celebrated at MNC Liliana Rossi Theater. Delicious food was provided by El Mil Amores and MNC’s team did an excellent job with setting up this elegant event and shouts out to Marcelo Puig for the live guitar music.

Joaquin Torres, Assessor Recorder of San Francisco, and Mireya Magana, consul Adscrita of the Mexican Consulate, shared words of welcome and support to the new consul and farewell wishes to Ana Luisa Vallejo. Among the dozens of special guests there was the Consul General from Peru Juan Miguel Miranda and the Mayor of Redwood City Jeff Gee. Emcee and MNC CPO Aurora Alvarado gave Marco Antonio Mena Rodriguez and Ana Luisa Vallejo MNC welcoming and farewell mementos and gifts.

Ana Luisa appreciated our welcome reception for her back in 2024 and was grateful that MNC hosted her Farewell Reception. The new Mexican Consul General Marco Antonio Mena Rodriguez brought his family to celebrate and was also excited to meet community leaders and our staff.

It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of our MNC Healthy Aging and Disability Services (HADS) participant Concepcion Ruiz. She was a valued and constant part of MNC’s HADS program, whose presence will be deeply missed. We extend our heartfelt condolences to her family and loved ones during this difficult time.

Concepcion Ruiz has been an MNC member for eight years. When reflecting on Hispanic Heritage Month, she fondly recalled her childhood in Guanajuato, Mexico, along with a cherished tradition for her family gatherings at a family home in Concord, where they enjoyed quality time together, playing soccer and preparing tacos. This time spent with her grandkids, nieces, and nephews were a highlight for her, reinforcing the importance of family.

One of her favorite dishes to prepare was Mole, which holds significance during various celebrations such as weddings, quinceañeras, and other gatherings. She particularly enjoyed serving it with Guajolote (turkey).

Thank you for keeping Concepcion Ruiz and her family in your thoughts and prayers. Her MNC Family will miss her dearly.

MNC CEO Richard Ybarra and Chief Administrative Officer Ana Cobos attended the Social Security 90th Anniversary Celebration with Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi. This classy event had around 90 attendees from seniors to community leaders gathered to eat, drink, network and celebrate the commitment to financial security at the George W. Davis Senior Center. It gave Speaker Emerita the opportunity to praise the work of then Secretary of Labor Frances Perkins, who wrote and pushed through this historic legislation for President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Thanks to Kathy Davis, CEO of Davis W. Senior Center, for hosting this special occasion.

MNC is grateful for the invitation to this event and look forward to the next one with Nancy Pelosi’s team!
