September on Our Mind!

September often feels like the beginning of one of the busier seasons of the year. As school routines return, calendars fill with activities, and the holidays begin to appear on the horizon, life has a way of picking up speed. It's also a great reminder to make time for the people who matter to us and to take care of the important things before the busy months ahead. As we welcome a new season, we're grateful for the trust you place in our team and for the opportunity to be part of so many families' journeys.

Our office will be closed on Monday, September 7, in observance

of Labor Day. We will reopen during our regular business hours

on Tuesday, September 8.

Celebrating the People Who Build Our Communities

Each September, Labor Day gives us an opportunity to recognize the hard work, dedication, and contributions of workers who have helped build our communities and our country. Established as a national holiday in 1894, Labor Day has long been a time to celebrate the value of service, perseverance, and the people whose efforts make everyday life possible.

At Bertsch & Boze, those same values inspire the work we do every day. We believe serving our community means more than preparing legal documents, it means building relationships, educating families, and helping people confidently plan for their future. It is a privilege to walk alongside the individuals and families who place their trust in us, and we are grateful to be part of such a caring and supportive community.

As we celebrate Labor Day and the communities that help shape who we are, we wish you a safe and relaxing holiday with the people you love. if you're ready to take the next step in planning for your family's future,

we're always here to help.

We're always just a phone call away.

Community Spotlight: Hello September!

Being present in San Antonio means a great deal to our team. Every event, presentation, and community gathering gives us a chance to meet new people, reconnect with familiar faces, and share knowledge that can truly help families. We’re thankful to be part of a community that has given so much back to us over the years.

August was another wonderful month of educating and serving throughout our community. Our team participated in the Merced Housing Texas Health Fair, Brennen presented “Wills, Trusts and Probate” for Northside ISD, and Autumn shared “Tips and Tricks to Avoid Probate” at the

Doris Griffin Senior Center.

As September brings the beginning of fall and a new season ahead, we’re always so grateful for the wonderful clients and families who allow us to do what we love. Your trust, kindness, and continued support mean more to us than we can say, and we feel incredibly fortunate to be part of your

lives and this community.

August 6th was National Paralegal Day! We celebrated three incredible people who are truly the backbone of our firm, Sam, Maria, and Jody.

Roxy has officially decided that Friday meetings are exhausting. While she gets to rest her head on the table, the rest of us are still hard at work!

Giving Thanks by Giving Back: Nominate Someone for Pro Bono Legal Services

This November, Bertsch & Boze Elder Law is celebrating the season of gratitude by giving back to our community. We will select an individual or family experiencing financial hardship to receive up to $2,500 in pro bono elder law or estate planning services from our firm.

We invite our clients, friends, and newsletter readers to nominate someone who could benefit from our help but would not otherwise be able to afford legal services. As a reminder, “pro bono” means legal services provided without charge to someone who lacks the financial resources to hire an attorney. This program is intended for people experiencing real financial need- not simply someone who would appreciate receiving free legal services. We ask that you please keep that purpose in mind when considering a nomination.

To submit a nomination, simply email us (staff@assistingseniors.com) with the nominee’s name, contact information, and a brief explanation of their circumstances and how our services could help.

We will review the nominations and select the recipient in November as part of our “Giving Thanks” initiative. Whether someone needs help putting an estate plan in place, navigating a long-term care issue, or addressing another matter within our firm’s areas of practice, we hope this small effort can make a meaningful difference for members of our community who need it most.

Upcoming Engagements

On Tuesday, September 15th, Autumn will present “All About Wills & Trusts” at 10:00am at the Walker Ranch Senior Center, 835 W Rhapsody Drive. This presentation is a detailed discussion about the two most common types of estate planning documents necessary to ensure your estate passes to your loved ones according to your needs or wishes for your estate and why they are needed for blended families. Autumn will also identify cost-effective methods to avoid probate and the pitfalls if not

done correctly.

On Thursday, September 24th, Brennen will be teaching a class on Wills, Trusts & Probate for Northside ISD’s Community Education initiative. The class will be held at the Northside Learning Center at 6632 Bandera Road and will take place from 10-11am.

On Monday, September 28th, Brennen will be giving a presentation on Wills, Trusts & Probate for the Caregiver Support Group at Hill Country Retreat by Del Webb. The presentation will begin at 12pm.

TIP: Did You Know?

The holidays are often when families first notice changes in an aging loved one’s health, memory, or ability to manage everyday tasks. Having important legal documents and a plan in place before they're needed can give families more options and make future decisions a little easier.
