It's a long story, but a good one!

Thousands of my books in inventory burned in the Bear Fire that burned over 300,000 acres in California last September. It burned our home, offices, and warehouse — and we THOUGHT we'd lost everything!

Lost & Found
As it turns out, we had about 300 copies of The Sailing Life, and 88 copies of Letters from the Lost Soul that did NOT burn! Here's why!

The New Book Philosophy!
As I am sure you have noticed, the printed word has lost a lot of following, with everyone going to eBooks and Kindle. My question is, what will people be putting on their bookshelves in the future, potted plants? So, I made the decision, after the fire burnt what we thought were all of our books, that from now I would only sell my books as high-quality, hardcover, signed collector's editions only.

Three down & then the discovery... We had some books left!
So, I started reprinting all of my books, one by one. The first book we redesigned and printed was Biker To Sailor, one of my latest books. That was followed three months later by A Brotherhood of Outlaws, one of my earlier works, and then Starboard Attitude.

...And then the discovery!
As I got ready to start reprinting my best selling book, Letters From The Lost Soul, I realized that when the book was published — almost 3 decades ago — I had given the publishing rights to Sheridan House Publishing. When they closed, the contract went to National book Network. I realized I didn't have the rights to reprint my own books! Same with The Sailing Life!

What to do?
So, here's the deal: In order to sell the books we found so I can reprint them in hardcover, I had to buy back the printing rights. When I did that, I also got all of the stock they had in inventory! But I gotta sell those before I can redo them as hardcover collector's books.

So Let's have a 1/2 Price sale!
Both of these books are printed perfect-bound paperback. They are full 6" x 9" size and are all new. The Sailing Life is over 200 pages of insights into why we go to sea in ships. We don't tell you how to sail, we tell you WHY! Dozens of anecdotal stories about what life is like out there once you cut the dock lines!

Biker To Sailor
By Bob Bitchin

The mid ‘70s were a unique time in boating There was a huge liveaboard community both in the marinas and at the mooring field in the outer harbor. Everybody pretty much knew everyone and it was a very social lifestyle.
Bob Bitchin did not blend, nor did he make any attempt to. His sheer size made him stand out, but he was also obviously a biker.

The biker black has been slowly replaced with Hawaiian shirts. Biker boots evolved into sandals. Appearance-wise, he can sort of pass as a boater these days, and his crazy shenanigans (there have been many I was witness to) are a little less “in your face.” But blend in? Nope. Thanks goodness!

A Brotherhood of Outlaws
By Bob Bitchin

In some ways it hardly seems like 40 years
have passed since I wrote “Brotherhood.” In others, it seems like a different lifetime. Sometimes I think a much easier lifetime.
In the day’s of the Biker there was a camaraderie and a freedom that the biker of today cannot grasp. You could go to Sturgis
and sit on the lawn in front of the Armory and welcome the 1,500 bikers that would show up from all over.
Those days are gone, but they are not forgotten. This book was written in the days of the Biker, and today it is more relevant than ever.

Starboard Attitude
By Bob Bitchin

Sometimes You Need to Keep a Starboard Attitude. For the past 15 years Bob Bitchin has been the heart of the sailing community. His magazines, Latitudes & Attitudes and Living Aboard, share the joys of the cruising lifestyle, and his nationally televised weekly TV show shares the true adventure of what it is like to be a sailor in the 21st Century. This is a collection of articles that show what it is truly like once a person has decided to cut the dock lines and sail off into the sunset.  Bob has sailed over 100,000 miles, all over the world, and still manages to get out and show sailors what it's like with his "Share The Sail" adventures in such idyllic areas as Tahiti, Croatia, Tonga, Greece, the BVIs, and Thailand.
