How the Media Handled Trump’s First 100 Days
A media panel discussion this afternoon at 2:00 pm at The Westport Library has been sold out. However, the event may be watched live at that time using either one of these links:
https://westportlibrary.org/live/
https://youtube.com/live/irXiq3_44o8?feature=share
The panel will discuss how the media handled the first 100 days of the Trump Administration. It follows a media panel conducted last January that focused on the state of news reporting and the impact of social media on current and future generations. Both panels are co-sponsored by the Y's Men and The Westport Library.
Panelists today, who have differing perspectives on contentious media coverage, are (clockwise in photos above beginning at upper left) multi-term Westport First Selectman Jim Marpe, U.S. Congressman Jim Himes, veteran news anchor and blogger Alisyn Camerota, assistant professor of politics at Fairfield University Aaron Weinstein, and local news anchor and feature reporter Rebecca Surran.
The discussion will be moderated by Y’s Men Past President John Brandt.

Y's Men Chess Club Lives Again! Meets Tomorrow
Come out and try your hand at Chess. The Y's Men Chess Club meets Mondays (that will be tomorrow) from noon to 3:00 pm at the Weston Senior Center.
It also meets Wednesdays from 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm at the Westport Center for Senior Activities.
Y's Man Clarence Hayes, who chairs the Club, said, "I knew the rules and had tried a few games when I was younger, but it didn't click, and I didn't play any further.
"So if you ever played a little or thought about playing - and didn't stick with it, I recommend you give it another try. Perhaps being a little older - less stressed about time, more forgiving of yourself -makes a difference in getting engaged with Chess."
In order to have enough players to provide some diversity of opponents, Y's Men play with an established group at the Weston and Westport Senior Centers.
Just show up!
Any questions, contact Clarence Hayes at clarence@clarence.net or 203-818-7436.
