*DISTRICT & COMMUNITY UPDATES*
Edition XX - September 23, 2020
Dear Friend of Wellness:

Exactly one week ago our School District opened it's doors for our students...for those who wanted to return to a Brick and Mortar status form of education. This entire process has not been easy and quite challenging for many; however, let me reassure you that everyone is doing their part to make it super special for our greatly missed asset the 'children.'

Our main goal while putting these WPTF newsletters together and dissiminating them to our stakeholders in the past 6+ months was to keep everyone abreast on what has been going on since we started this pandemic...always keeping our main focus of promoting the Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child culture. One of our faithful readers and a former School Board member of our District wrote me the following email last week with these lovely words that have kept me thinking while we all are experiencing the return into our school buildings. The sentence was "Poignantly Positive Paula Presents Pulchritudinous Promotion of the Wellness Task Force!"...my thinking was of the importance of education for everyone so that we all can understand the true meaning of words...in this case for me the word was 'Pulchiritudinous.' Even though it looks and sounds like it would describe a disease or a bad attitude, pulchritudinous actually describes a person of breathtaking, heartbreaking, and beauty. I can reassure you that this past week for many children returning to school and seeing their bus drivers, teachers, custodians, cafeteria staff, resource officers, school staff and their school leaders...this entire experience for them has been truly breathtaking, heartbreaking, and beautiful.

Lifelong learning is truly a gift that we give ourselves…and it pays off big time in the long run...but we MUST NEVER forget our mentors and teachers all along the way. Coming back home to our Brick and Mortar status form of education for our children is increidibly valuable and important...let's keep pressing on and...Never Give UP!

Continue being a beacon of LIGHT for all the children
and each other...
let's grow STRONGER together!

Be healthy and safe ~ Paula

Dr. David L. Katz's COVID - Reality Check: Basic Math...
In this video, Dr. Katz makes the case that we have been misconstruing the pandemic denominators by an order of magnitude or more - invoking just published data and basic math. Getting these numbers right changes all of the rates - such as the fatality rate - our culture keeps churning so breathlessly.
