A celebration of joyous pattern and color, Aubin is a curated and playful collection of small-scale prints that tell a story of pattern making and the rich history behind this wonderful craft. Influenced by the traditional block printing techniques of India and Asia, each design was originally hand carved and hand-printed, cherishing the perfect imperfections that make them unique. Masterfully capturing and cleverly recreating the rich print marks, the designs are full of nuanced, artisanal detail, that are a nod to tradition while offering a fresh, original perspective. Honoring British craftmanship, the designs are printed in England on an organic and recycled cotton linen blend fabric.

During the Spanish colonial period, capiz shells were often used in windows instead of glass as they were easier to obtain and also filtered the light nicely. Today, Capiz plays a starring role in four unique designs of the Luster collection. Each design, which is available as a tile, features a striking relief thanks to a creative technique: threads are glued onto the subsurface, after which water-soaked capiz is printed onto this pattern. Each of the 4 design tiles is available in two neutral and two bolder hues with a luxurious, natural pearlescent sheen.

The Melaky collection of 5 wallcovering patterns draws on the diverse nature of the region on the island of Madagascar with dry savannah and grasslands as well as dense mangroves. The mulberry tree and raffia, the two materials that inspired this collection, both grow in Madagascar.

RUG SPOTLIGHT
Understanding Viscose Fibers and Rugs
| | viscose fibers: before and after |
| |
Viscose is a broad term used to describe cellulose-based fibers, derived primarily from plant materials.
Common types of viscose include bamboo silk, banana silk, rayon, art silk, Tencel™, faux silk, and Luxcelle. While most viscose is made from natural plant-based cellulose, some variations are derived from petroleum-based sources. However, due to the intensive chemical processes involved in manufacturing, viscose is not classified as a natural fiber.
Care and Maintenance
Proper maintenance is essential for preserving the appearance and lifespan of viscose rugs. Always vacuum without a beater bar to prevent fiber breakage. In the event of spills, blot gently—never rub—and seek professional dry-cleaning services when needed. Because viscose fibers are cellulose-based, any water-based cleaning method can lead to damage, including discoloration, stiffness, or fiber degradation.
Designers should advise clients to avoid placing viscose rugs in high-traffic or moisture-prone areas, such as entryways, bathrooms, or kitchens.
Performance and Use
Viscose rugs are valued for their vibrant colors and soft, luxurious finish, making them ideal for formal spaces and low-traffic areas. However, this same softness also contributes to their fragility. Viscose lacks the strength and elasticity of more durable fibers like wool or silk, making it prone to matting, shedding, and moisture damage.
While visually appealing, viscose rugs demand extra care and are best suited for decorative rather than functional purposes.
