Annual Meeting and Potluck February 23
All are encouraged to stay after worship on Sunday, February 23, for a potluck lunch followed by the congregation’s annual meeting in the Henry Young Fellowship Hall. This will be a time to celebrate what God is doing at Crescent Hill Presbyterian Church as we receive annual reports from the various committees and mission groups that carry out the work of our congregation. If you are able, please bring a generous dish to share.
(Just a reminder, Session members, you are responsible for set up and clean up before and after the potluck. Chairs and tables will already be set up.)

Highlights of February 12 OPS and NOW Meetings
Members of the Crescent Hill Presbyterian Church community enjoyed fellowship and a delicious array of homemade soups October 9, followed by meetings of the OPS and NOW committees.
OPS Committee—This group oversees the nuts-and-bolts, day to day operations of the church, including building and grounds, maintenance, stewardship campaign, budget development, investments, online giving, personnel and payroll, AV, marketing and social media, insurance, and church policy. Actions included:
- Learned that the church has received a $27,120.76 investment check from Morgan Stanley.
- Began receiving estimates for gutter repair.
- Heard an update on the art piece for the front plaza to be built by Craig Kaviar using metal from guns surrendered at Guns to Gardens Louisville events.
- Set up a process to get quotes for removal of bats from church buildings.
NOW Committee—This group guides programmatic work of the congregation, activities formerly coordinated by the Nurture, Outreach, and Worship Committees (including music and worship, Christian formation, earth care, gun violence prevention, garden ministry, mission beyond church walls). Actions included:
- Finalized plans for weekly Lectio Divina sessions (meditative reading of Scripture) in the Gathering Room during Lent, led by Phil Lloyd-Sidle. Dates and times are Thursdays March 13, 20, 27, and April 3, 10, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. All are encouraged to stay for choir rehearsal immediately following.
- Heard about a new project taken on by the Middle East Prayer Group, which has been meeting on Thursdays, and discussed how to introduce the project to the congregation. The prayer group is one of 12 groups across the U.S. that is participating in a pilot program for accompanying Palestinian Christian detainees, organized by Friends of Sabeel North America (FOSNA). We have been paired with Dr. Tannous, a Palestinian dentist, who was recently released from prison.
- Discussed a reception for graduating seniors (tentative date May 18, following worship).
- Noted that the community contra/square dance in the fellowship hall, organized by Rebecca Barnes and Chris Bischoff, is now scheduled for May 31.
- Noted the need for 3 volunteers to check the kitchen once a month and make sure needed supplies are ordered and excess items disposed of. Please contact Beth Yeager or Soni Castleberry to volunteer.
Mark your calendar for the next meeting of NOW/OPS: Wednesday, March 12, opening with a fellowship meal at 6 p.m.

Prayer and Action for Middle East
If you are struggling with your feelings about all that is happening in the Middle East and yearn for shared information, prayers, and other possible responses, please join our small group. It includes folks from CHPC as well as other faith communities. Here is our regular schedule:
- 1st Thursday each month, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., we meet in homes so location will vary. Please bring a light lunch snack to share.
- Other Thursdays each month, 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., we are on Zoom.
Feel free to join us on Zoom, in-person, or both. This group has enabled such support for one another. We would be grateful to have others join us. Email Soni at soni.castleberry@gmail.com to get the Zoom link and be added to the group email list for regular communication.

DID YOU KNOW?
What Presbyterians Believe About Shared Leadership
Together, ruling and teaching elders exercise leadership, governance, and discipline and have responsibilities for the life of a congregation as well as the church at large. When elected as commissioners to higher councils, ruling elders participate and vote with the same authority as teaching elders (ministers). Congregations may also elect and ordain deacons to a ministry of compassion, witness, and service.
