Contest entry this year will be done through Member Center at barbershop.org. If you are managing a quartet or chorus, you will have links to your group in Member Center under Mange my SCs (SC is for Singing Community). On that page, you should find a link to enter a contest. Select the Southwestern District Fall convention, and follow the steps there.
Because we did not have a Spring Convention this year, we will have an all-in-one convention with something for everyone. We have contests for Men’s, Women’s, and Mixed Harmony quartets and choruses, and we will take entries for VLQs (very large quartets) if your chorus can only get 5-11 people together. Contact me, Mike Ott: dir-cj@swd.org or Mike Thompson: mt76710@gmail.com if you want to enter a VLQ – we will have to help you get the group added to member center.
As always, we have a Scores for Evaluation only option for choruses and quartets, so this is a great way to get some stage time and coaching and not have to worry about scores being published.
The convention is September 30 - October 2 at the Hyatt Regency in DFW Airport. Yes – the convention starts Thursday, September 30 with a couple of other fun events:
Barber Palooza - open mic event (CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP)
AND
Harmony Platoon - extreme quarteting (CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP)
You can join these events if you are competing or not – you just have to be registered for the convention. What a great way to start the weekend with some fun singing to open up the pipes!

Parking is free for attendees – the hotel will validate a parking ticket so enter through a ticket-only lane. Click here and scroll down to Tollgate Booths and Hotel Parking for more information.
The hotel is on airport property, and at this time, the hotel has signs that indicate masks are required. They also informed us that wearing of masks is not being enforced by them at this time. We will align with the way the hotel is treating this. We do ask anyone not vaccinated to wear a mask. As always in this day and age, think of yourself and your fellow barbershoppers and family as you make your decisions on masks.
We are excited to be back in convention mode again, and we look forward to seeing you all at this year’s Fall convention!
