I am looking forwad to tonight’s meetup on Zoom this Sunday (March 29) at 7pm Central.

Don't worry if you can't make it. I will record it.

Assignment #5: Don't Fall Behind

If you have not started your homework studies, please get on it because you will get behind and get overwhelmed.

Lesson 5 is ready for you: Lesson 5: Controlling Exposure | Pass the CPP

In case you missed it, here are the links to previous lessons:

Lesson 1: Lesson 1: F-stops | Pass the CPP

Lesson 2: Lesson 2: Shutter Speeds | Pass the CPP

Lesson 3: Lesson 3: Depth of Field | Pass the CPP

Lesson 4: Lesson 4: Controlling Motion | Pass the CPP

Lesson 5: Lesson 5: Controlling Exposure | Pass the CPP

Remember, take your time and really learn the material.

Also remember:

  • Next time you are out and about, pick up a pack of 3x5 notecards.
  • Next time you are out, try to pick up an inexpensive tape measure that will measure at least 10 ft. Get one that is small enough to carry in your pocket.
  • Gather about 4 – 5 of your all-time, favorite images that YOU have taken. These do not have to be your best work, nor do they have to be all that recent – I just want you to find the images the mean the most to you. Select your two most very favorite among them and have a 8x10's printed that you can bring to class. They can be of a client, a friend or a family member – but it is going to be most helpful if these are images of a person or people and not a landscape or scenic image.

Items to Bring to Class

I know that some of you are traveling by air, so please do not worry if you can't bring all the items from this list - especially the bulky items. Arlington Camera will be providing some of these items for our class that you can borrow.

  • Camera
  • The lens we will use the most will be something in the 28mm-105mm range.
  • If you don’t have a zoom in the above range, consider bringing a Wide angle, normal, and telephoto lens. (If you have something like a 24-70mm and a 70-200mm, that would be awesome. Don't worry if you don't have these lenses. Just bring what you have) Honestly, I don’t want you to bring too much because I don’t want you to have to keep up with it.
  • Hand-held Light meter (if you have one)
  • Off-camera flash set up (flash, umbrella/small softbox, stand) Don't worry if you don't have this.
  • Remote trigger/receiver
  • On camera flash/speedlight
  • Tripod
  • Reflector
  • Camera Instruction book
  • Flash instruction book
  • Batteries for camera and flash and meter
  • Chargers

If you don't have some of the above items or if you can't travel with them, it's OK. You can borrow our class equipment. Just know you will be sharing it with others.

Be sure to label all of your gear!

That's it for now.

Steve
