WASTE REDUCTION
In the spirit of pursuing strategies for waste reduction and efficient recycling, a committee with representatives from the Congregational Church, the Scoville Library, and TRAC organized the May 31st FIX-IT POP-UP event in Salisbury. While this will be old news by the time you read this June TRAC TALK, there will be more events of this kind. Look out for future FIX-IT events, including those called Repair Cafés, where volunteer fixers/coaches help you reduce waste by repairing fixable items – diverting them from the garbage or demo pile.
Most people are familiar with the 3Rs mantra: REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE. Over the years, that list of RE’s has grown to include REPAIR, REFURBISH, REFUSE (as with straws), REGIFT, and generally RETHINK (your consumer habits.)

TRANSFER STATION STICKERS
New stickers will be available in July; purchased at Town Hall or by mail. Stickers should be affixed to your vehicle’s windshield before August 1st.
Every resident in the towns of Salisbury and Sharon must pay a User Fee (aka Sticker Fee). Even if you use a hauler (ex. Richard Ralph or Welsh Sanitation) to transport your material to the facility, their arrangement with you does not include the User Fee Sticker cost. This fee must be paid whether you use the station during the year or not. Once paid, you will receive a sticker that will allow you access to the station throughout the year, should you decide to go with your own vehicle.
Your current (pink) sticker is valid through August 1st, 2025.
2. Forms will be available at Town Hall and online at: https://www.salisburysharontransferstation.com
3. You must pay for the sticker(s) at Town Hall by Cash/Check/credit card (There is a processing fee for credit cards).
To return by, mail to: Selectmen's Secretary, PO Box 548, Salisbury, CT 06068
If you have any questions, please call 860-435-5170.

3. Styrofoam and packing peanuts
4. Hoses, hangers, and other “tanglers”
