Member of the Month

The "Member of the Month" program at Arch Street Center recognizes and celebrates the contributions of a standout member each month. This individual receives exclusive perks, such as priority lunch privileges, a special lunch outing with the executive director or a chosen staff/volunteer, and a designated social media profile to showcase their achievements. Additionally, they serve as the "first friend," helping new members integrate into the community and feel welcomed. This program embodies Arch Street's commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for all its members.

We’re thrilled to share that Cruz has been recognized as Arch Street Center’s January Member of the Month! Since becoming a member in 2012, Cruz has brought a friendly and uplifting spirit to the Center. Every day at lunch, he shares three adjectives with the staff to describe how great the food is. Cruz proudly sports an Arch Street Center shirt transformed into a cape, earning him the title of "Cruz Man." Please join us in celebrating him as our January Member of the Month—congratulations, Cruz!

If you could have a superpower, what would it be?

The ability to move super fast without heating up or being seen.

What does Arch Street Center mean to you?

Place to fee welcomed, to belong, and it's a safe environment.

What is one word you would use to describe Arch Street.

Fantastic.

What is something interesting about you?

I have good kindness and I have respect and admiration for everyone at the Center.

What is your favorite kind of music?

Rock and Roll

What is your favorite meal at Arch Street Center?

That's an easy one - Tuna Noodle Casserole!

What is your favorite trip you've been on with Arch Street?

Pro Wrestling! Arch Street has given me the chance to see pro wresting three times!

What's something that you are proud of?

Helping and caring about people. I enjoy cheering them up.

Who is your hero or someone who influenced you?

The Incredible Hulk. I use the strength of the Hulk every time I mow the lawn. Plus the grass is green and he is green!

A Heartfelt Thank You to CABHC!

We are beyond grateful to our friends at Capital Area Behavioral Health Collaborative (CABHC) for their extremely generous grant, which has brought incredible improvements to Arch Street Center. This amazing opportunity allowed us to make significant upgrades, including:

✨ New Flooring: The entire first floor has been outfitted with beautiful new flooring, enhancing the comfort and aesthetic of our space.

✨ Permanent Awning: We’ve installed a permanent awning, providing year-round outdoor access for our members while protecting them from the elements.

✨ Kitchen Equipment: The addition of a new ice machine and dishwasher has greatly increased the efficiency of our kitchen operations, ensuring we can better serve our members.

And that’s not all – these upgrades have transformed our space and operations in ways we couldn’t have imagined. We are truly fortunate to have partnerships like the one we share with CABHC, whose support helps us continue to provide a welcoming and supportive environment for our members.

Join Our Team!

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of adults in the mental health community? Arch Street Center is seeking a dedicated Support Specialist to join our team! This is a part-time position (25 hours/week) with the following schedule:

Monday-Friday: 1:00 PM - 5:30 PM
Weekends: 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Key Responsibilities:

Social Rehabilitation: Facilitate social interaction and problem-solving to promote a supportive and engaging environment for our members.
Activity Leadership: Plan and lead activities such as crafts, board games, card games, and offsite excursions.
Meal Prep & Kitchen Assistance: Assist with simple meal preparation and provide support in the kitchen as needed.
Facility Maintenance: Help keep our center clean and welcoming for all members and staff.

Qualifications:

A valid driver’s license is required for transportation-related activities.
Comfortable and experienced working with an adult mental health population.
A friendly, patient, and proactive approach to supporting our members.

Did you know? Each month, we host regular meetings with various resources to support our members. Representatives from Union Community Care, Tenfold, Lancaster City Police Community Outreach, and Penn Medicine Street Medicine visit Arch Street Center every month. These meetings are a fantastic way for our members to access essential resources and for the organizations to connect directly with those who will benefit from their services.
