About the Governor's Hispanic Fellows Program
The Governor's Hispanic Fellows Program is a paid summer internship that offers leadership development opportunities for first-generation college students of Hispanic heritage. Even if a student attends college out of state, as long as they live in New Jersey, they qualify to apply. Fellows are placed in different sites that may align with their major or give them the opportunity to learn about new fields outside their studies. They gain real-world experience, build professional skills, and receive exceptional mentorship. Fellows also attend weekly workshops focused on developing public speaking, networking, and leadership skills, while also building confidence and long-term connections.
To be eligible, students must:
- Be of Hispanic/Latino heritage
- Be a New Jersey resident
- Be enrolled in a 2 - 4 year college/university
- Be a U.S citizen or legal permanent resident
This is a fantastic and enriching opportunity for those who are looking to grow professionally!
MTB has had four Governor's Hispanic Fellows of our own: Lizbeth Coliente, Melissa Reyes, Ashley Delgado, and Michelle Carpintyero. This program is something MTB students should definitely keep in mind as they think about their future plans!
