Announcing the First Annual Baby Café USA

Community Impact Award

In celebration of World Breastfeeding Week (August 1–7), we are excited to introduce the first annual Baby Café USA Community Impact Award, created to recognize and support the meaningful, community-driven work taking place across the Baby Café network.

This award will provide $500 to one Baby Café to support and further the work you are doing to help families meet their breastfeeding goals.

Across the Baby Café network, we see meaningful impact every day, through strong partnerships, creative outreach, and the dedicated people providing support to families in your communities. This award is an opportunity to recognize and celebrate that work.

Who Should Apply

All Baby Cafés are invited to apply. You may apply as an individual Café or as part of a cluster. Your application may include how you are reaching families, collaborating with community partners, the people providing support at your Café, or approaches that increase access, engagement, or connection.

How to Apply

Applications are simple and designed to highlight your work. You’ll be asked to share basic information about your Baby Café and a brief response (300 words or less) describing your community impact and how you would use the award to continue or expand your efforts.

Apply here: BCUSA Community Impact Award Application

If you have any questions or experience difficulty submitting the form, please contact us at admin@babycafeusa.org

Key Dates

  • Application deadline: June 30

Sponsor Spotlight: Meet Luna Aziz, the Mom Behind Legendairy Milk

Luna is the founder of our newest Gold Sponsor, Legendairy Milk. Her breastfeeding journey began in the sleepless, milk-stained early days of new motherhood, when she faced low milk supply and struggled to find a solution she truly trusted.

After a not-so-great experience with fenugreek, Luna began digging deeper, researching globally trusted herbal alternatives and time-tested traditions in women’s health.

In 2016, Luna started creating hand-crafted lactation blends in her own kitchen, driven by a desire to find better options for herself and others navigating similar challenges. What began as a personal solution quickly grew, shaped by the real-life needs and experiences of mothers.

More than 10 years later, Luna’s work has expanded far beyond those early days. Through Legendairy Milk, she now supports over 1.1 million women, with products available in 160+ countries. In 2024, her company expanded to include organic baby supplements and women’s health supplements, continuing to evolve alongside the families it serves.

We’re grateful for Legendairy Milk’s support of Baby Café USA and their shared commitment to helping families meet their feeding goals. We look forward to learning more about supplements and their role in supporting people with low milk supply during our October 9 Baby Café Chat, when Legendairy Milk will co-host and share more about their work.

Action Required:

Complete Your 2025 Annual Baby Café Surveys Today

The Baby Café Operations Survey and Baby Café Expense Survey are now available. As a reminder, completion of both surveys is required as part of your Baby Café license agreement.

The information collected helps us understand how Baby Cafés are operating, the true cost of running a Café, and how different staffing and funding models work across communities. It also helps us identify sustainability needs and common barriers, support new communities as they plan their Cafés, and demonstrate the affordability of the Baby Café model.

You may complete the surveys using the link provided here, or by visiting the website. From the menu, select BC Staff Portal, then choose the Operations Survey and Expense Survey links.

Surveys may be completed for each Baby Café individually or for your cluster, depending on how your Cafés are managed.

Each Café should have designated individuals to complete the surveys. Typically, the Lead Facilitator completes the Operations Survey, and the finance contact (or the person responsible for paying bills or invoices) completes the Expense Survey. In some cases, this may be the same person.

Please note that only one Operations Survey and one Expense Survey should be completed for each Baby Café or for each cluster, depending on how you choose to report.

If you are unsure who is designated for your Café, you can check or update this information in the Facilitator Portal by selecting the “Update Your Baby Café” black action button and reviewing your point of contact information.

Please allow adequate time to thoughtfully complete each survey, and thank you for submitting them in a timely manner.

If you need assistance, please contact admin@babycafeusa.org.

Take a Look: We’ve Updated the Facilitator Web Portal

We’re happy to share that we’ve refreshed the For Facilitators page on our website to make it easier to use and navigate. Everything you need is now in one place, with clear, plain language and quick access to key tools, including updating your Baby Café details, downloading your QR codes for session registration and attendance, and viewing your Baby Café’s data and reports.

From the Facilitator page, you can also register any new staff or volunteers for the required training session, which is free and offered monthly. If it has been a while since you completed the Facilitator Training, it’s a great idea to join again for a refresher.

As a reminder, each Baby Café has a unique username and password that is shared by members of your team. Usernames follow the format BC + your Baby Café number, and accessing and using the Facilitator page is part of your Baby Café license requirements.

If you’ve had staff turnover, aren’t sure how to log in, or can’t access your account, please reach out to us at admin@babycafeusa.org. You can also request a password reset directly from the Facilitator page using your username. If the reset email doesn’t come through, it may be going to an outdated email address, and we’re happy to help update that for you.

New Training Opportunity: Understanding Your Baby Café Data

This summer, we will be offering a free, two-hour session focused on helping you better understand and use your Baby Café data. The session will walk through how to access your reports, what data is available to you, and how you can use it to better understand and support your community. We’ll also explore how your data can help you identify gaps in who you are reaching, strengthen grant applications and funding requests, and clearly share your Baby Café’s impact and successes with partners and stakeholders.

Have you ever wondered:

What percentage of families attending your Baby Café are enrolled in WIC?

What percentage of participants are supplementing with formula by choice?

What does your data tell you about the diversity of the people you engage in your community?

Join us on July 30 at 3:00 PM EST.

Please note that you’ll need access to your Baby Café username and password to participate.

CERPs are pending for this session.

On the Road Again: Breastfest in Ohio

Let Us Know About Your Upcoming Events - We’d Love to Join You!

Our Executive Director, Lisa Miller, recently attended Breastfest, the Ohio Lactation Consultants Conference in Columbus, Ohio as an exhibitor, where she shared the Baby Café story and connected with lactation professionals from across the state.

“It was especially meaningful to meet facilitators from our Ohio Baby Cafés in person,” said Dr. Miller. “So much of our work happens virtually, so having the chance to connect face-to-face, hear about their Cafés, and talk through their experiences was truly energizing. I also enjoyed sharing more about what we do at Baby Café USA and connecting with those interested in opening a Baby Café in their community.”

These opportunities to connect at the state and local level are incredibly valuable. If you’re aware of conferences, coalition meetings, or other events where Baby Café USA should be present, please let us know. We would love to attend, present, or exhibit, and most importantly, spend time connecting with our facilitators.

Looking ahead, BCUSA will be presenting at the National WIC Association Conference in May and the National Association of County and City Health Officials conference in July. If you plan to be there, please reach out, we would love to connect in person.

If you would like Baby Café USA to present or exhibit at your event, please email us with your event details and dates: admin@babycafeusa.org
