This is usually the time of year that we would be contacting you about the upcoming Helene Foundation Gala. We have been closely following the federal and state guidelines to maintain the health and wellness of our community in efforts to flatten the curve with COVID19. Due to those guidelines, it is just not possible to host our annual Gala on Friday, May 1, as we have long planned.
While our annual Gala is our most significant and important fund raiser, our work must continue through this pandemic. Year after year, the success of this incredible event helps us to provide immediate, practical support and services for mothers and families fighting cancer. We are proud to be providing services that help brave mothers maintain normalcy in their homes while they fight cancer.
I am working closely with our Board of Directors to find new sources of revenue, including a possible postponed time when we can safely come together to support and celebrate the Helene Foundation’s mission and work. We will be in touch if and when those plans become firm.
But we cannot wait for future fund raisers that may or may not happen. Just like our moms that need us to be #HereForTheNow, we need your help NOW. We are humbled by the generosity of your past support, as we have been able to provide meals, housecleaning, childcare, tutoring services for children and assistance with transportation costs to treatments and medical appointments. Over the past decade, we have been able to serve over 225 North Carolina families and touched the lives of almost 500 children. We are currently assisting 16 families and 42 children. And your support is needed now, more than ever.
